Yes, but booing commissioners in all professional sports has become a right of passage. I don't read a whole lot into it.

went a little unnoticed but it was clear at some point that they had a plan against Randy, especially with their relievers. They weren’t gonna let a fastball heavy reliever face Randy and instead let someone with good off speed (Victor’s slider and Floro’s changeup) face him. I remember lots of ppl (not necessarily on here) confused when they took out May to let Victor face Randy but that’s when it was clear: May ONLY has a fastball, and even if you lose the platoon advantage, it’s more important to have the pitch mix. And it worked. Obviously he still had a lot of big hits but those two big at bats were huge and they pitched him great

hard to not love the 2013 team. That one or 2017, just because 2017 felt like it was one of the best teams assembled

but this 2020 team has a lot of those core components but also, feels good to see Mookie come here and get it done. Easy to root for the guy and 2020 team was a great combo of Dodgers lifers, Dodgers produced players, and a Fuck You trade for Mookie

They were missing their ace, a serious LHP killing bat that got hurt in his first AB of the NLCS and Pache was there too early. That kid didn't do much, but his poise had me really impressed for only being 21. With that said, Freeman was unconscious and like you mentioned, it would be hard for that to improve on his end while we have no clue if Atlanta spends the money to bring Ozuna back long term. What I have learned is that you never assume that you will be back in a year. The Cubs were a presumed dynasty with 5 young controlled superstars on offense, but they were one and done. It is not easy to be a contender year after year, ESPECIALLY when your owners tighten the purse strings as much as the Braves owner does. There is a strong chance that the Braves of the next 5 years are a powerhouse with a very dangerous 1-8 in the pipeline just based on what they have and have coming, but they are just as likely to trip up along the way and merely be ok. They definitely deserve some shit for failing the way they did, but we also looked like complete shit for most of those first 4 games. As good as this Dodgers team was/is, there are still some pieces to it that tend to be streaky and a lot of the bad streaks together at inopportune times. I also don't think Atlanta is getting as much shit cause the Dodgers were considered a powerhouse and also... I mean Georgia sports....

The games are getting played on MLB radio all the time, so I am getting some listening in. I mentioned this, but Monday was very upset with the way the club handled Randy throughout the series. That Floro AB was one of the best, but what it was asking the pitcher to do was NOT miss middle-middle with a Change (Something Baez did later on). He was practically screaming for the Dodgers to pitch up and in to him. Not throw at him, but fastballs to the upper right quadrant of the plate. The only time the Dodgers did that really was when the pitcher missed location, but Randy reacted in frustration every time that happened and generally jumped back even if it was in the zone. I am glad we won, but had we ended up losing and a big part of that was our poor planning for Arozarena, I would have been fucking pissed.

yeha I can see that, but really most hitters struggle with up and in. The problem is that a mistake up and in is a very bad mistake whereas an off speed mistake down and in can still get him to miss. I think my main point was that you NEED a great offspeed pitch to get him. But he was tearing everything up. All the Dodgers players couldn’t believe the hits he got off Tony’s slider or even the hit off Kershaw’s curve

Just happy to win. Only thing I keep thinking is wish they won before 2013 so my dad could’ve seen. So maybe 2008 gun to my head?

But I do love the core guys of Seager/Turner/Joc/Buehler/Belli/Kiké from the past few years so. I’m cool with it being these guys.

This is an excellent question because 2020 is the year the Dodgers won the world series...and yet... it's my least favorite season of all time.

16 years is more than half my life. So each of these seasons had an especially distinct feel for me.
The difference between 2004 and 2008 was the difference between elementary school and high school.
They felt farther apart than they really were.
But they're all special to me in their own way.

2008, 2013, and 2017 stand out as seasons that seemed magical and I wish would've ended in a WS.

I would've liked Ethier to get his because the Dodgers seriously lacked roster continuity during my earlier years of being a fan and he was around for 12 seasons.

2017 is probably the one in terms of my favorite players on the roster top to bottom

The WS win is going to allow me to appreciate the regular season wins a lot more going forward

Could never truly feel that good about any regular season win as I still felt a huge void

agreed. Made me enjoy some of the regular seasons in last years a little more as well. For example, someone like AJ pollock. He was awesome this year for us in regular season, we don’t have a number 1 seed without him. He crashed in playoffs but ya know, getting into a good spot matters a lot also. Having the #1 seed was huge even in this weird year. So I can now enjoy his season a bit more and not just be thinking “who cares if Pollock is awesome in July if he sucks in October”

Well, I know that you probably are way more attuned to what is the present thing in sports ( and other culural aspects of life, too), but I saw a guy who was visibly shaken, or at least demonstrably affected by the booing...didn't you write that you wondered if he had a stroke? His speech pattern and pacing was like a vinyl record on the wrong speed. Like slowing down Beatle records to hear clues about Paul's death....
    "I buried Manfred"...

I'm gonna buck the trend and say that I like the particular group that won it this year. That's not to say that I wouldn't have preferred the championship to have come earlier (better yet, earlier plus this year). But I don't see anyone on this roster that truly annoys me. Yes, Jansen and Baez did more damage than good in this WS, but overall they've had productive Dodger careers and I'm happy they got their rings. A few mentioned 2017... from that roster, it would've been cool to see Puig, Adrian, Ethier and Hill get rings. But Forsythe and Grandal were starters which meant they were big parts of the team and when they were gone it was a case of good-riddance for me. Don't get me wrong - I still feel cheated by the Asterisks and we should've been able to celebrate at the end of that series (let alone avoiding the extra ding on Kershaw's stats), but this year's group of players was more relatable to me. 2013 featured a strong core too, but the team depth compared to 2020 was pretty weak. Names like Punto and Shoemaker and Hairston and Federowicz. Also, the McCourt stink hadn't completely faded yet.

There were a couple of people on here who mentioned Manfred's speech pattern.

I'd also throw 2014 in the rink, mostly because we won the division and SHOULD'VE been able to prevent the wildcard Giants from getting their third championship. It was probably Kershaw's best regular season, and the starting lineup was pretty stacked with Gonzo, Hanley, Crawford with his best season in LA, Puig, Ethier, Uribe, Gordon... and then Kemp and his 25 HRs off the bench and Turner's first season as a Dodger hitting .340. Kershaw, Greinke, Ryu, Beckett, and Haren formed a solid rotation. It was Kenley's first at closer and he registered 44 saves. But of course Carpenter killed us, Kershaw fell apart, and Adams had the big hit. That one still hurts because, as I said, the Giants ended up going all the way in a season when they shouldn't have.

And we were kicking the shit out of the Giants head to head to close the season. That one definitely hurt a lot as Giants fans will even admit that they were stoked St. Louis eliminated us because they wanted nothing to do with the Dodgers. Game 1 gave me nightmares for a long time.

When discussing past teams/players, I can't help but get stuck on how Turner got to celebrate this year. He's one of the first names I immediately think of when I think of a Dodgers player I want to win a ring and he finally does it and is deemed as satan by the media. It always bothered me that there was a possibility that JT could never win a ring as a Dodger since he's about to be a FA and he finally wins one the year before he hits the market. I think we resign him but it's not a given and I can only imagine the emotions he was feeling when he finally got to be a champion while knowing it could be his last year as a Dodger.

I understand that he could've handled things better but that's a really tough spot to be in and it's so easy for people to sit back and ridicule him.

The team I would have most liked to see win was 2017, followed closely by 2020.

These were the two teams most deserving of a title, and while Cinderella stories are nice I don't think there is anything better than a WS Championship that just reaffirms who everyone already thought was the best. I give a slight edge to 2017 just because Kershaw was truly still an ace that year, and for me personally my daughter was just born so I was watching the WS while changing diapers every 30 minutes.

After that, I want to throw out some love for the 2009 team. The Manny Bobblehead HR and what felt like destiny. When Padre fans were jumping around with the Slam Diego narrative and declaring 2020 destiny for the Padres, I immediately thought back to 2009, and I was reminded that baseball doesn't work like that. Another win for 2020 was watching the Padres fall flat in the end, destiny doesn't exist, the best thing is to be better at baseball than the other team.

    Fuck the media.
JT is the hero we need in these times of people not visiting their loved ones due to the terror caused during the purge.
People need to breathe through their turbo jets in front of their face.
The air geats into the nose trills and turbinates nitrogen oxide that kills all foreign microorganisms.
The nitro ignitor kickstarts your heart like nitroglycerin in your gas tank.
A burning hearth keeps away the icy chill and the nose knows where the heat goethes.
Hay is for beasts of burden and the muzzle for the face too.
The media is in the middle between the low and the high.
Like the priestly guards protecting the king deep inside the palace.
    But they plays both sides.
    And picks a winner.
If its position is losing it adjusts its position.
Because it had both positions in play the whole time.
The brighter the light the longer the shadow.
    It never loses.
    Like high religion.
    But fuck em this time.
    They ain't gonna satanize JT.
JT is forever sanitized and immune from the effects of those toxic swamp things.
