I think it's from fear of how Bolsinger does later in the game. Just guessing, but I do remember him struggling past the 5th inning last year where teams had seen him about 3 times in a game. So maybe just extra caution to not let him blow up the game
Most of our massive salary are veterans playing out contracts from previous FO or bridge players signed to short term high salary deals. Point being that all that salary will drop down soon once those vets deals are done. Then our team will be mostly young cheap guys and our big money will be to bona-fide stars.
Indeed, if Harper hits the market in '18 or '19 whatever it is and LAD is sitting on a 70MM payroll, it's on.
