Pederson RF Seager SS Turner 3B Bellinger CF Beaty 1B Pollock LF Lux 2B Smith C Kershaw P No idea why Seager is batting 2nd but I'm hoping that is where Muncy slots in once healthy Really hope Muncy/Verdugo get healthy soon cause them replacing 2 of Beaty/Pollock/Lux makes this lineup amazing
Great work with the projected starters @irish , but Dodgers.com has them listed as : Kershaw, Gonsolin, Urias
Sorry Gavin. I don't want to turn on you so quickly, but you pretty much had to hit like you were in AAA to have a shot this season. You just aren't ready to displace bats like Muncy, Verdugo, and even Taylor right now. Next year for sure. But 2 rookies in the post is already pushing it. Not to mention Cody and Corey have the mental capacity of rookies at best.
When the dodgers lost 16 out of 17 games in 2017, I don't remember seeing an absolute breakdown of critical components of the team. Like what we are seeing now with the starting pitching. We will not compete with this version of Ryu and Kershaw, let alone a mixed bag in Buehler and a bad bullpen
I understand how fast Cody is. I understand how hard he hits the ball. I understand how many home runs he has. I understand how he's likely the best defensive outfielder in baseball and how he can move all over the field. I understand that the totality of his production is MVP level this season. I understand that with his skill set he can go in a coma and still accumulate a 5 WAR. But he will still hit under the Mendoza line in the post season. You can take that to the bank. Because at his heart he is a .250-.260 who can't sustain focus for an entire season. I'm not even a huge B.A. guy, but the dude hitting .340 was clearly on another level in approach, discipline, bat control, vision, and everything else. The first 3 months of the season might as well be ancient history... from tops in the league in line drive percentage, to one of the worst. From hitting .350 and taking his walks to finishing the season at .290 and teading the walks for strikeouts. The first couple months was a flash in the pan and it is sickening because I really do think he is one of only a few players in baseball with the ability to sustain that offensive excellence. He is back to being a really good player but not the guy you want at the plate with the bases loaded with the game on the line. No way. I don't think I can change my mind till I see it. Of all the people the pick on, why pick on the guy who is likely to win the MVP? Well, because we need him the most. And he is not going to get it done.
Nice pitching by the starter and the relief pitcher...we are soooo fucked. Not even slightly watchable any longer. Way to whip ' em into shape, Dave. Y'know, for that post season playoff thing... G' night now.
Kershaw is so bad. I’m still perplexed by how the FO completely dropped the ball on our pitching situation.
You know what you are going to get with the dodgers. They will take the pragmatic approach and shrug their shoulders when it doesn't work
