Its sorta pontless but its ok.
Some people might enjoy the exercise.
    What ifs are sometimes fun.
Just that this one smells a little bit of throwing in the towel.
And its kinda early for that.
At least joc is doing ok.

I actually thought this was a fun excersize. I've been thinking lot about it. We constantly think of buying why not spend some time thinking a fun "what if" scenario like this

It's not like it's crazier then some of the buyin scenarios we think of

Look, we basically have nothing worth "selling", and the FO isn't about to give up top line prospects.

    That's why it's a pointless thread.

Who's going to give us anything for the aging vets who are owed too much money? Who would the FO give up in the farm that is basically worth a shit?

    End of discussion.

I was going to post something like this a couple of weeks ago, just like you in that it would be purely hypothetical since it is fun to see what people think on here..... sometimes.......

If bitter means stating facts, then guilty as charged.

As far as the new goat to fuck...you're it.

My hypothetical if in the highly unlikely scenario it were to all come crashing down....

    - In the event that Bellinger is continuing to show signs of being a star first baseman in the making, move AGon. I'd look at teams like the Rockies, Astros, Cardinals, Mariners, Pirates and Marlins as potential partners. The teams ability to then eat a lot of the money on these contracts would go a long way in both making deals easier to find AND landing more than bottom barrel, crappy prospects.

    - Move Justin Turner as long as he is not still hitting without any power and looks like the knee issue is a big thing. If he is still struggling then hold on to him, if he's still hitting 240/320/310, then keep him another year and hope that one season further removed from surgery will bring back his bat. Teams to target, A's, Baltimore, White Sox, Marlins. This opens the door for a pursuit of the Gourriel brothers who could potentially be the starters at 3B and 2B next season, while also preferring to stay together.

    - Trade Chase Utley. His resurgence and cheap one year contract would make him a very intriguing piece for a few competitors, Blue Jays are probably the team with the biggest need there.

    - Explore moving Kenley Jansen. It is a crazy thought, but he is the piece that could put a team over the edge into a top level World Series threat. There would be no shortage of interest for him and could probably net you better than the comp first rounder you would get in return for keeping him... then throw all the money at him and bring him back if possible.

    - Give Carl Crawford to any team that could want him, just get him out of here and hope you can save maybe 1-2 million next year.

There are a bunch of other guys you would look to moving, but right now they have no or little value (Kazmir, McCarthy, Van Slyke, Howell, Ethier, Kendrick, Anderson). That could all change by the trade deadline, but you're stuck with them for now.

Jansen is the only one who would really generate any interest worth noting. The rest of those in the post wouldn't really net much.

As long as Kasten and his "I never promised you a rose garden" bullshit is upheld and continues ad infinitum, that's all that matters...as we've been told over and boringly over again...didn't you know ?

Do what the Dodgers did in 1987.
    And then early in 88.
Because our catching situation and starter situation is very similar.
As well as that of clutch utility players.
We even have some old Japanese guys with hot pitching to compare to our Latin starters of the time.
Sign a power hitter hitter thats a non nonsense a-hole to bring some gravitas to the clubhouse.
And some key trades to shore up the bullpen. Sometimes you gotta give up a star type hitter to get a few good relievers.
Sometimes a strong bullpen is worth a star hitter.
This is one of those times.
Specially if a big bopper is able to be signed in the offseason.

Nah, Nerds are non-conformists and can't be bothered with what has worked before, not their style.

unless it all plays through the uber-saber-metrics small market talent development formula that they've built.

If the dodgers ever become sellers with their resources, dump Kershaw. It's a clear sign ownership is so far in over its head that they are waiving a white towel. Might as well give Clayton an outside shot at a ring

Use the money to extend cc and Adrain, fuck those heartless bastards, theyre a prime reason the Dodgers would be sellers anyway.
