not at all. in fact, he's on the type of contract that Miami would love to have.

basically..saying that you wouldn't trade Puig for Stanton is dumb because Stanton's much better and he's young.

Puig AND Pederson? nope, nope, nope

Stanton is slightly better than Puig, however Pederson projects as a very decent OF'er for years to come, not to mention the money, I don't think it's worthwhile to make that trade and leave us with 2 over 30 guys, not to mention how awful the defense will be.

I would be ok with a Pederson centered package and other younger pieces, but I simply don't think you can trade Puig.

if that's what the Marlins demand..yes, yes, yes and easily.

    :laff:

again, that's just it..Pederson is still a " projection " guy..nobody has any clue if he'll work out just yet.

" not to mention the money "..good, don't mention it. if you have great players, you pay them. i guess we should've traded Kershaw for a cheaper player, right? wrong.

it leaves us with 2 over 30 guys..if you're running the team. they can find another CF. Rasmus is 28 and has pop ON THE MAJOR LEAGUE LEVEL ( what Pederson's yet to prove).

the only reason you keep Puig instead of moving him for Stanton is if you're too tied into the " Puigmania " advertising campaign part of it all. that's it. the whole bit about Puig being " close " to Stanton..wrong. and Stanton hits moon-shots, ones that would likely leave Dodger Stadium, so i don't think ownership would have trouble shifting and making him the star of a new campaign.

Well. If you're going to dump a contract, dump the Chinchilla, throw in Lee, cash a draft pick and Frias for Stanton.

Send Ned, Dum Dum, Wilson, Wright and Ethier snipe hunting in either Azusa Canyon or Elysian park after midnight.

lol I think you're underrating Puig, you act like Stanton is moons better, he's not overall.

again I wouldn't do that trade, my opinion, I'm not the only way who feels that way that's for sure.

I'm not going to get into the Giancarlo vs. Puig+Pederson debate cause something like that is not going to happen for a variety of reasons.

But what I will say is that I think people have severely underrated Puig as far as what he has done in 2014. I feel as if some would say it is a disappointing season and that they want more from him, or as if he hasn't lived up to some potential.

We are talking about a guy who is hitting .295/.383/.479 and is 5th in wRC+ in the NL. He raised his walk rate from last year and cut down on his strikeouts. He transitioned to be a center fielder on a team that had none.

Sure, he had a slump in these months. So? Some players slump. Because a slump happens later in the year doesn't mean you throw away everything that happened before hand. Dan Haren had a great stretch recently, it doesn't mean he had anywhere close to a great season overall

How soon we forget that for the first half of the year when everyone else had slumps, Puig was the one carrying us through.

I'm not directly accusing one of stuff, not just here, just like the other day I'm watching SportsNetLA and they're saying "Oh yeah, some say other then Clayton Kershaw, Adrian Gonzalez has been the Dodgers MVP. But I think it's Justin Turner!" Hell no. I love the surprise we got from Turner, and sure Adrian has been steady. But Puig has been our best position player. Just because he's not doing it at this very second doesn't discount every thing else. He's had a hell of a fucking season, in results not potential.

In 2014, Puig is hitting like Miguel Cabrera but doing it meanwhile being a center fielder and although not being a good base stealer, his speed is obviously something positive. An incredible, and surprisingly underrated season

    what are those reasons?

no one's underrated Puig..logically, if Puig can serve as the centerpiece in a Stanton trade then that means he's pretty good.

however, he's not arguably better than Stanton. LA96 went from saying " Puig is arguably better than Stanton " to " Stanton is slightly better than Puig "..give him a little more time..he's almost there. Lol

Perhaps the lawsuit, multiple Fed interviews about human smuggling, possible life threats and such ARE weighing on Puig.

    How could they not?

no, i mean the Baez with the Cubs..the kid with all the power. what if the Cubs are willing to part with him and/or Soler for Stanton? would you move on a Puig trade then? Cubs also have Addison Russell who they might be willing to move..maybe Starlin Castro too? not all of them, of course, but certainly 1 or 2 of them.

i'm just presenting potential options this winter..because Stanton is most definitely getting paid this winter and it probably won't be the Marlins handing over the loot. he's likely to be dealt and then whomever gets him will be the team extending his contract.

if they can get a deal done without sending both Puig and Pederson..great. what i'm saying is that if Miami is getting a really good offer from the Cubs and they demand Puig AND Pederson in order to send Stanton our way..it's gotta be done. i'd love to keep Puig, but if he's Miami's target (as the centerpiece) in any Stanton deal with us..gotta send him. Puig is probably our only way of competing with the Cubs' young talent being that Puig's locked up long term and he's proven to be an all-star talent on the MLB level. i feel as though the only way you don't send Puig is if Stanton tells the LAD front office - " look, i won't sign with the Cubs, so just wait until i turn free agent "..and i don't think that's gonna happen because the Cubs will probably put a 200M contract in Stanton's face as soon as they get him and we'll have missed on the opportunity.
