@DodgersLowDown #Nationals outfielder Juan Soto on Walker Buehler's outing tonight: "For me, it’s the same Buehler I’ve been seeing this season. It’s nothing special. He’s really good but he don’t have anything different for me." What a salty bitch
To be fair, he had a single and a fly ball that moved the runner over against Buehler (before striking out twice against the bullpen). Compared to the rest of the team, he looked like Ted Williams out there.
thats true but I think with our deep amount of lefties, Martinez is gonna have to weigh: do I leave Stras and wait to see if he’s gonna get tired in inning 6-8 or do I put in Doolittle? Were in a good spot either way. I have dumb confidence we can hit a homer or two against Stras
Could also be seen as a shot at his teammates, but the Nats are perennial chokers, so they need a splash of what Soto is bringing there, IMO. A slick media member could translate that as, " rest of these guys need to get on my level when it comes to facing Buehler " Lol It's the truth though
Haha yeah when I watched him say it it sounded a little more like “we’ve seen him Before and we shouldn’t have acted like it was facing God for the first time. We knew what was coming and we didn’t get our job done”
I had to look it up cause I thought no way is he older than Kershaw. Stras is 31, so you’re not old yet
Well perhaps a slick media member has already flipped his words? Have you seen Stras' OPS VS lefty bats? .588 This is not a drill. Lefties are hitting .192
Oh yeah Stras can def shut down our lefties, easy. But Martinez already got criticized for not using Doolittle yesterday and if he goes 2 games without using his main lefty reliever in a big spot, he knows what’s coming. I’d be way more scared of Stras than Doolittle so what I’m saying is,I hope Martinez is gonna feel tantalized to over manage the game and go into his bullpen earlier than he should
I'm hoping Fraudny has a little more gas in the tank. Hope that hideous called third vs Fraudny doesn't throw Bellinger into a funk.
Yeah, but Doolittle is a reliever for a reason. Not good enough to be a starter. For sure, he can get an out or 2, but taking the horse off the mound is a gamble. Martinez could feel the urge to over manage, but I look at the WC game for reference, even though it was a one and done situation..they're now pretty much in another 1 and done situation because if they fall down 0-2 then that's probably the series. I would expect him to stay with the horse if possible. MIL had a lefty heavy lineup at the top and he left both Corbin and Doolittle in the pen and went with the horse
You have the numbers on hand? Because I mean I know Joc is supposed to start against righties, but this is a different righty. They could be better off with Taylor/Pollock again. Righties are hitting about 100 pts better VS Stras
pollock is 7 for 14 with 4 extra base hits off Stras so I bet he starts haha. I do think I’d like to see Taylor over Pollock against righties though but also, Pollock did have an amazing second half
Sure would be nice to have Harper in one of the corners Harper VS Stras this season: 1.194 OPS over 9 plate appearances and a wealth of knowledge about Stras
true to what you said, our lefties have done AWFUL against Stras. I don’t think it means we start Taylor over Joc though, Joc is too streaky that you could see him easily just run into one. But Bellinger/Muncy/Seager/Lux will have their hands full and Turner/Pollock will have to step up today
