well everyone can point to the fact that harang has stunk to say big deal. who knows maybe hes leveled off im not following him but there is no way in the time leading up to being dealt that we couldnt have done better he was ugly but was a solid four or five for a lot of teams we just consistently find ourselves on the short end of all deals. couldnt be bernie.
I disagree and there's probably proof. We traded him to COL so they can trade him. What did they get for him? Anyone? Fact is he served a purpose and filled a hole that we needed. We did not have a backup catcher after FedEx, and sure enough AJ went to the DL, and we absolutely needed Ramon, as bad as he was...we needed him. We rapidly filled that hole with Jeff Baker (who is probably worse than Ramon) becuase we need a catcher of the 3rd string variety.
even if thats true herman munster still had more value than that. maybe not now. maybe not after we signed all those pitchers and his hand was forced. but a good gm has a deal in place prior to the glut occuring and gets something more than a third string washed up catcher for a servicable four or five. which was my point.
