Micah isn't a C Fielder BUT putting JDL in the rotation I'm all aboard with!! Even if AJ would be released Barnes would still be on the bench way too much which will hurt his development.

He's been better this month, but tbh he's been average against the NL West this year too. Call it a small sample size, but he's had 18 innings against the NL West and barely scratched over a 4.10.

And this is who we want to give up the farm for? Give it up for Chris Sale or someone like that. Not Chris Archer.

Having Archer down this year will hurt his value so it'll take less, Sale would take our prospects 2 - 5 I'm guessing. They are both 27 which helps, what I also failed to write we have Honeycutt here. The other thing is Archer will have a chance to win every year instead of being relegated to being also rans for the foreseeable future which could motivate him. Of course it'll probably not happen.

Minor moves, but I would really like to snag Fernando Abad or Kurt Suzuki from the Twins.

I'm not sure anyone wants to give up the farm for Archer.
However, the K/9 and the team control/contract is so that they'd have to give up something of worth.
They're not gonna get Archer for JDL in a 1 for 1 swap.

I agree on points 1 and 3, but Micah Johnson is terrible. He is not developing into a major league player.

Ofc not, but that supposed package of Urias, JDL, Bellinger and Verdugo that was floating out there scared the fuck out of me.

Where did that one come from?
    That's just unreasonable.

I think I saw an article that said it would've taken that last off-season coming off of his Top 5 Cy Young year, but take out Urias and it's probably reasonable for now.

    Debatable, but definitely more reasonable.

Verducci says the Giants should go for a back end relief pitcher, since he considers that their only weakness. That's what they need to go for the LA jugular.
Other than that, he thinks Bumgarner is the greatest pitcher that was "ebba borned from a natchul woman". He compares him favorably to Carl Hubbel.
And right behind the best ever, Jesus Christ.

Another thing about Chris Archer, that is less important then his ability but still cool, is that he's an incredibly great guy from everything I've seen/read. Smart, fun, and caring to communities. An incredibly easy person to market. Again, it doesn't matter as much and being likeable doesn't make your talent better but I'd love to have him and root harder for him

Agreed. He's very insightful and well-spoken. Loved listening to him when he was talking during the Astros/Yankees WC game last year. I'm confident he can fix any mechanical/control issues.

Truthfully, back end relief should be their main focus. That bullpen really is their Achilles heal and if a pitcher has any sort of a bad outing, they are usually in sifting through shit the remainder of the game. People were joking about the way Roberts was managing the bullpen like a playoff game yesterday, well Bochy has had to do that night in and night out.

The type of guy, that even if you have him under team control, if he's performing well above that mark you just wanna reward him with a bigger deal when you don't even have to.
That type of guy, extremely classy, almost unreal...reminds me of Derek Carr or Russell Wilson.

Another thing about the Rays: Steve Pearce would be an interesting get. Has some injury problems (I know, I know) but can play 1B/Corner OF/2B. Those flexible players are great on this team. Hits lefties well. He's a tough hitter to figure out cause of injuries and previous year struggles but he'd be a good get I think so

So here is the reality of the next 9 days. The pitching market is really thin. So teams like the Rays and White Sox are going to demand a premium/or more for their guys. As well we are in a bid with Wood/Ryu/Kershaw hitting the DL. So anyone we pick up is going to be over priced.

I guess the question is who do you let Urias go for? Who do you let JDL go for?

IMO Urias is about 99% untouchable.....save for guys like Fernandez/Sale/Trout. However, I would not mind sending JDL packin for Odorizzi/Grey/Quintana

The worst thing we can do is sit still while the Gnats make that one-two player acquisition that puts them over the top....the Scuderos, Pences, etc.

Those moves have proven nails for the Gnats. Can't stand still when we are close to catching them.
