Cashner to the Marlins seems to be gaining steam. I think his future is in the pen, but apparently he has not interest in moving there.

 

Can't believe the states legalized before us. You guys are social trendsetters.

 

The more I hear Sale talk, like today after his loss to the Cubs, the more I really dont like the guy. He has this aire of thinking he owns the club, the players, that nothing he does is wrong, and he is unaccountable. Sounds and acts like a spoiled child that was never told "no".

Do we really need that and give up a young and up and coming pitcher in Urias and possibly others?

The more and more I learn of the guy, the less I want him.

That's what I mean about the Gnats getting people to bite on crap.

Not that Nunez is Bryce Harper, but really?

 

Mejia was the 6th or 7th best guy on SFG's farm ( some think top 5) and Nunez is meh, just having a career year

 

But what does that mean in terms of all prospects. I thought Urias was like top 3 in the whole league.

Where does this guys land, especially if the Gnats have a crappy system.

Are they wishing for another Nathan miracle?

 

Minnesota seems to have made out quite well for its meager investment in Nunez. In addition to receiving quality production from him while he was in town, the club will add a nice piece in the 23-year-old Mejia. After a solid showing at Double-A last year, he pitched well enough there early in 2016 to earn his first promotion to Triple-A. All told, he owns a 2.81 ERA over 105 2/3 innings with 8.6 K/9 and 2.3 BB/9 between the two levels.

Long considered a solid prospect, Mejia has moved up the charts as he has ascended the ranks of the Giants’ system and is said to profile as a near-ready number-four starter. He sat at fifth among the team’s pre-MLB assets in Baseball America’s latest farm ranking (also cracking the top-100 list leaguewide) and seventh per MLB.com. Though he doesn’t have huge stuff, the pundits credit him as a sturdy southpaw who limits the home runs and walks and should be able to generate strong results with a quality three-pitch mix.

I've gotten to the point where I want the team to stop shopping for a SP and to look elsewhere for help. I can tell that no matter who they get, I'm going to be really pissed at the price.

Probably not mutual with anyone else, or fashionable, but I think we have two keepers already in Stripling and Stewart.

 

Marlins got Cashner and Rea for prospects.

 

Good...we don't seem to have much of a problem with Cashner, do we ? We hit him around pretty well, as I recall.

 

Everyone is hitting Cashner right now. This is the Marlins taking a lottery ticket on a guy who hasn't been good since 2014.
