My mother had chucked out my collection of 50's bb cards, along with my 50's comic books when I was in the army. I came home to dust. She didn get to my 50s/ 60s plastic models though...they formed the basis to a collection I sold later on in life for thousands.
She said that she figured I didn't want that kid stuff anymore after I was a soldier...I'm talking Mantle, Mays, Snider, Campy, etc., Golden Age comics, the whole ball of iconic wax.
Can't cry over spilt collections, I guess.

Have to admit any Giant cards (including Mays cards) ended up between the spokes of my bicycle.

My Giant hate was spawned an early age.

I can't stress enough how much I love to see Moreno continue to run this organization into the ground lol

You don't trade away your biggest asset because you somehow think you can compete for a title this year, so you actually trade away more prospects at the deadline to net Giolito and others...only to now put them on waivers to basically give them away.

    Brilliant.

And Heder took both losses. Yesterday's wasn't as bad - it was the placed runner that scored and his offense didn't plate theirs. Today though was a blown save and loss - ouch!

    10 games under .500 now.

Would you take 101 from Chapman off your hip for a walk-off?

    Ouch.

    injury updates…
    • Joe Kelly threw a bullpen and will throw another Friday, with a chance to face hitters next Tuesday.
    • Shelby Miller has completed his rehab assignment and will be in LA tonight. Activation TBD, but there’s a chance he’s one of the guys when rosters expand.
    • J.D. Martinez will take BP on the field tomorrow, then start a two-game rehab with OKC. Dodgers’ expectation is he will be activated some time in the Nationals series.

    imperfect system
i get wanting to give the lower ranked teams first shot
but how is that fair to teams that earned their higher spots legitimately, who have zero shot at landing any of the top players available?
the giants and dbags are (respectively) 14.5/15 games behind us in the division, but sf is currently the third wild card with ariz only 0.5 back…
no way they should be rewarded for being being our bitches

I hate the Gnats as much as you do, so I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment.

But if I'm trying to be objective, this is a perfect example of the point I made a couple nights ago in the other thread. Reds are currently 1 game back of SF for the last wildcard spot. Now they obtained a (normally) high quality starter for the rest of the season - and the ONLY reason they got him and the Gnats didn't was that they didn't perform as well over the first 130 games of the season. This could very easily be the difference the rest of the way out, with Cincinnati overtaking the final spot. Just doesn't seem right to me. Striving for league parity makes sense between seasons, not during.
