that team is a fucken mess
too many chiefs, not enough indians (racist)
i don’t have a problem with hader not wanting to pitch the 8th, but he should have sucked it up and let melvin know how he felt after the game
then again, i also understand his frustration
i’d still love to see him in dodger blue in 2024

Actually, the more I think about this, the worse it seems. That was the game in which Snell pitched six scoreless, and they had a 1-0 lead with two outs in the 8th. While an extreme longshot, the Padres' playoff hopes were still alive. They had won something like 9 of 10 at that point while the teams ahead of them were treading water at best. Still would have required a miracle, but as fans we expect our professional athletes to never give up, to fight until the end. And technically, San Diego still had a prayer.

Hader refused to come in and get the final four outs, Suarez pitched in his place and gave up two, and the rest is history. Now, the only way the Padres get to a play-in game is if they finish 4-0, Cubs go 0-4, Marlins no better than 1-5, AND Reds no better than 1-3. Good luck with that, San Diego.

I retract what I said about not minding if the Dodgers sign him in the offseason - I don't care how good his numbers look. We need players who WANT the ball. Stay away from this loser.

i hate players that give up no matter what the situation you still have a chance if you haven't been eliminated
and even if you have been eliminated what about pride and looking your team in the eye?
the prima donna athlete is the antithesis of a warrior w very few exceptions

Speaking of the wildcard spots, this is lining up to be a very interesting final series of the year. There are four teams still in play (no, not you San Diego or Gnats) for the final two spots, and the level of difficulty in the final opponent they will face is in negative correlation to their standing among the four:

Arizona (+1 in the standings) faces 86-win HOU
Cubs (+0 and currently in the final WC spot) face 88-win MIL
Miami (-.05 in the standings) faces 74-win PIT (they get 3 more vs the Mets first)
CIN (-1.5 in the standings) faces 69-win STL

Not looking great for Cincy (that game last series where they blew that huge lead will likely haunt them big time) , but they could win-out and put the pressure on. Marlins have two additional games and very beatable opponents and fully control their own destiny. If D-Bags and Cubs struggle against better teams, there could be a log jam going into the final game on Sunday.

    Get your popcorn ready.

    @MLBLife
Megan Rapinoe threw out the first pitch at the Mariners game last night.

No wonder they lost....why is that boy/girl/thing still getting attention after he choked away the game for the US?
