If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Verdugo has been killing the ball since getting sent back down(.378/.431/.519). I wonder if this is going to be his big shot to show that he can stick with the big boys. We have one week+ a day before the deadline, if he has good week I could see a deadline deal back on for the club to move Puig or Pederson for spects or relief.

Thought did cross my mind regarding a showcase but will he get enough PT to make us say trading another existing player would be possible. I'll probably end up being wrong but I personally think we have better options internally unless it's Britton. To me it's Britton or bust.

Verdugo might only be here for 3-5 days since Puig is scheduled to be back this weekend and sending Verdugo down is the most logical move (unless a trade happens...)

Eff Puig. He's outplayed his contract and is by no means a liability, but Verdugo and Joc are better players probably at this point and moving forward.

I guess get him some ABs and hope someone wants him?

Yeah, after Familia now getting a new home, there aren't too many grand options left out there. There are guys with sparkling ERA's, but you don't want them up in the big situations(sounds familiar...) and not really much in terms of that lockdown guy to be the bridge(which is terrifying). I think the FO will pull a rabbit out of their hat somewhere, but I just have no clue what it will be.

Yeah it’s tricky... more teams make sense for Verdugo than Puig (cause of age) but the team is in a weird spot with all their OF’s. They have Kemp, Joc, Puig, and Verdugo who are all MLB caliber OF’s... have Taylor and Bellinger who are MLB caliber players who can play all 3 OF positions... have Enrique/Toles who are quality bench players who can play all 3 OF positions. It’s a lot of OF’s.

One thing that could get interesting. On MLB Radio today, one of the fill in hosts mentioned that he is hearing that things are getting messy behind the scenes in Washington. Everyone is going to immediately point to the Scherzer/Strasburg thing from a couple days ago, but apparently there is something bigger going on in the locker room. They start a series tonight with the Brewers that could be big and if things go from bad to worse over the next 3 days, I wonder if the Nats could pivot before the deadline. Not likely due to their owner, but it could be smart to prepare to compete next season.

Dusty loyalists I'm sure fueling this stuff. Frustration from having players injured and I am only guessing but I'm sure Max was pissed that Stras ALWAYS seems to be hurt could be a reason as well. Who cares actually when I think about it UNLESS it means Max wants out.

They will lose everything sooner or later.
The build down starts this offseason.

Exactly... The way Kenley has been pitching this year and the way he chocked last year in the WS... it's not a bridge we need... we need a new lock down closer!

I Love Puig, #puigmyfriend. But hes gotta go... Verdugo is the better option in my opinion. Trade for specs and get some cap flexibility to go after britton.

I know it would be a much different trade, as far as which way prospects are moving, but trading Forsythe instead of Puig would free up more cap space.
