It will be in interesting year to see local fans park their asses at the stadium seats or stay home.

I know this year I am making no attempt to buy any merchandise or catch some spring games at camelback stadium like I used to being that I live in the east coast. I was looking into maybe catch a series in Atlanta Washington Philadelphia but I will take my money and just buy me a camper and enjoy and use the internet to checkout how they did and fantasy baseball league

Why is everybody so worried, the vaunted DJ LeMahieu is still out there. His below average offense is bound to be better once he leaves the pitchers park at Coors.

He's the best 2nd baseman I have seen since Michael Jordan.

I'm not worried at all we will be fine!! We're still a strong team in a weak division and the trade deadline is still a thing I've heard :D. We will sign a back up catcher I'm sure as well. At least someone in Dozier set a baseline for FA 2nd baseman to sign. Josh Harrison is still out there, of course my choice DJ is still out there and Marwin the bane of my existence too.

    - I kinda assumed that Grandal was gone, but honestly didn't think the Brewers were in the picture on that one. They are going to be an interesting club next season, but they really do need to find some starting pitching. Yes they went opener against us, but they didn't do that all season, they got help from some serious over performances that were on cheap contracts. Chacin is the only returner right now to that rotation and their funds are probably tight.... though they could also be planning on adding Hader, Burnes, Peralta and Woodruff to the rotation, which would make some sense.

There was a one off report a few weeks ago that said that there were some behind the scenes issues for why the Dodgers did not want to retain Grandal. It was not some long winded article, just one of those little notes at the bottom of an update. This would not really surprise me all that much as he previously wore out his welcome in Cincy and it was very well documented in San Diego. Still frustrating lose one of the best catchers in baseball to the team that took you to game 7 of the NLCS.

    - Dozier is more of a meh to me. I thought getting him back on a one year deal would be great, but Jed Lowrie is still out there and I kinda hope he is an option at this point. The only thing that irks me is that he went to the Nats and they have gone back to looking pretty fucking scary, especially with this rumored imminent return of Bryce Harper. Their outfield could be pretty stacked with Soto in LF, Robles in CF and Harper in RF. I would not be shocked to see them turn around and move Eaton soon after retaining Harper.

    - So the NL's East and Central are significantly more stacked and to this point, the NL West has combined for(I believe I saw) 5 total fucking big league signings. The teams in the West are handing the Dodgers the division on a silver platter. We still have the most dangerous team in the division and it is all about just getting there, but this offseason has been the ultimate head scratcher. I keep saying that there is something up their sleeves, but if that entails AJ Pollock, DJ LeMahieu and Martin Maldonado, I may have a fucking stroke.

going in i was thinking of how many pieces we had for trades and then dumped wood and pig for very little imo
sure both prospects may turn out to be superstars but what about now?
not especially concerned about our outfield but why dump those guys unless you had another deal of some sort in place?

The Dodgers, meanwhile, will stand to gain a compensatory draft pick after Competitive Balance Round B. Currently, that round runs through the 78th overall selection, though further free-agent machinations could slightly alter the exact placement of picks. Regardless, the Dodgers will add a pick in the late 70s or very early 80s as compensation for losing Grandal.

Im not sure I want Harper if he is going to cost 10 years and $300+. I kinda would rather roll the dice on trading for JT Realmuto and signing AJ Pollock at a reasonable price. Yeah I know Pollock has been hurt but the longer he is out there the lower his price drops, and with platoon happy Roberts that might mitigate some of his injuries. Iv red he is projected around what Cain got last year, 4 yrs $60MM, $15/Year. I could totally see the market drying up and him getting 3 years at $36-$40. Save some Lux Tax room and go after an impact pitcher at the deadline and this team is ready for #3 WS push.

Those positions had little value this offseason. Corner OF's need to provide more power than he does and Wood was coming off of a down year at a time where there were multiple better LH options on the FA market. I actually think we did pretty good and really like what I have heard in regards to Downs especially. We mostly all love Puig, but the truth is that he has never lived up to the hype of his first season and is more of just a decent regular at this point. We forget, he was in the midst of a very mediocre season all the way into the second week of September. Basically a two game stretch in St Louis spun his numbers into a solid season.

    Puig's 2018 Season before Sept 3: .259/.318/.451 14 HR
    Puig's Final 21 Games(13 starts) : .311/.373/.738 8 HR

Yes you take the whole season into account, but that was also an insane run that significantly inflated his numbers. Not to mention that he has sort of become a platoon player over the last two years, weakens his value. We weren't getting a superstar back for those guys, but Downs has the upside of a damn good regular and he was coming off a really good year in a notoriously tough league to hit in.

AJ Pollock just makes so much sense with this FO, old and always injured for big money.

    I'm bitter

I ain’t stupid but the management is doing just enough to have a solid team but not enough to get us over the hump at the beginning of the season

Baseball is like no other sport it takes time and adjusting to a new environment. Rare are those players that step in and are game changers.

Machado struggled because it’s like learning new pitchers and league

But he is not a Harper or Ramirez on drugs or Bonds

So in short Dodger brass is fishing us with a fat worm with no intentions of catching the big one as long as we keep coming back for the possibility

Harper with his presence pays for itself. Puts more asses in Dodgers seats more tv subscription which in turn the organization gets more money and merchandise sales.

I know I ain’t jumping to get any jerseys unless they are free with all this shifting of players on short term.

Now I days I just buy old school guys jersey like Robinson Koufax Hershiser Valenzuela Ect Now a days why will I buy a Machado jersey for , knowing he will only be here a couple of months. Now if your one who bought one tell me how does it feel wearing that now that he is gone

For a big market team the Dodgers are ran by scared bitches
