pollock is overrated fucken garbagenot worth what it will cost to acquire him
and like manray said he likely creates a platoon scenario because of his injury history
verdugo will be a better mb player than him, might as well keep alex
realmuto is not that big of an upgrade, certainly not worth the price the marlins are seeking
merrifield would be a nice addition
    fuck manny, pollock and realmuto
    get bryce

man, why you gotta rain on my parade?
tbh what we don't need is more platoons which is what pollock will create
what we need are more hitters who don't have horrific splits
manny is actually great in that respect, both last year and historically

I wonder if the Joc trade is to bring in more young talent to appease Miami but still keep Verdugo. Would be nice to pick up JT, and then sign Manny. That would keep Turner at 3b, Manny/Seager up the middle, and Muncy at 1b. Then the OF would be Verdugo/Belinger/Taylor with Kiki, Toles,Freese, and Barnes on the bench.

Bryce Harper has hit LH pitching better than AJ Pollock over the past 4 seasons. So if you really want to get better vs LHP, there’s your answer.

Choosing AJ over Bryce isn’t a lefty vs righty issue. It’s an issue of being cheap.

Even if it was a lefty vs righty thing, that wouldn’t be smart. You don’t balk at a generational talent asking for a 10-year deal because he hits LH, you balk because he asked for 10-years.

I think Manny cares about winning, he was one of the first guys yelling and cheering when we had big hits in the postseason. I also think he has a crazy-high baseball IQ, maybe the best in the game. But he’s very cocky about it, and doesn’t care about the fans’ perception. I’m sure he had people trying to tell him how to play and act last post season, and he blew them off - after all, Manny knows best. But he doesn’t. That attitude will probably cost him $50 million this offseason.

Harper is injury-prone because he plays hard. He’d be injured less if he played “smarter” like Machado. As a fan, that’s ok with me. If one of my players gets hurt I want it to be because he was trying to leg out a 2-out single. As far as who’s better, it’s apples and oranges a bit. But Harper’s ceiling offensively is a level beyond Machado’s ceiling. Harper’s 1.109 OPS in 2015 was the highest since Pujols in 2008. He can put up steroid-era numbers.

The news about here AJ Pollack, trading Joc, and possibly calling it an off season is.......just comically depressing, and a huge cynical response to 2 WS failures.

We reset the luxury tax. There are 2 generational FAs out there. We have no solid catching. We haven’t added a SP. We traded away some key players for prospects and created a defensive hole in RF.

Oh yeah, and one of those generational FAs plays RF, and we are not on his trail?

We have signed a relief pitcher and an injury prone pitcher from Taiwan.

And now we’re hot on the trail of an oft injured OF? WTF!

I’ve been trying not to get too hot about it, but man, if these FO dudes aren’t the cheapest a-holes.

You care about money? Get the biggest potential draw in RF now, and care about the contract later. Get all those prospects and get a catcher or SP. I’m not expecting everything.....BUT SOMETHING!!!!

    We are moving backwards Guggs.

    • The word on the Dodgers potential deal for Pollock is that it is a short term one believed to be in the 2-3 year range with potentially a lower AAV, but loaded with a ton of performance incentives.
    • Another name that is supposedly floating around in talks right now is Rich Hill's. He is not in anything involving Joc, but the club is said to be fielding interest in the LHP'er. Would make sense that they could be trying to clear his salary if they are planning on making a run at Machado.

This makes NO sense unless Taylor or Hernandez are on their way out the door.

Pollock would likely have no impact on Verdugo unless they were to package him somewhere else. Verdugo would probably play RF with Pollock in CF and Bellinger in LF. It does not sound like Verdugo has much of a future in CF anymore.

What history? He is pretty even for his career. Had a down 2018 against LHP'ing, but signs point pretty heavily to a bounceback season as he experienced a lot of bad luck with a .220 BABIP. Do agree that he will end up on the DL for sure.

Pollock will come in at a third the cost per year compared to Bryce for half the years.
His injury history does not make a platoon. They don't platoon for rest these days but for matchup.
If he rests it will be for matchup issues. If he gets hurt then he will be replaced by the dreaded depth or prospects.
Or they trade for a Whit Merrifield and move an IF into LF.
Verdugo may be or may not be anything, we don't know.
I like the fact that Pollock is a high ceiling lottery ticket.
If he gets hurt or even if he ends up sucking vs lefties again he will get platooned with Taylor or Kike.
    Realmutos price is coming down.
