I'd rather trade RedFro for Clevinger and hold onto Lux.

    • The Braves have acquired left-hander Tommy Milone from the Orioles, reports Mark Bowman of MLB.com (Twitter link). Atlanta will send two prospects, neither of whom is in the Braves’ 60-man player pool, to Baltimore, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post (via Twitter). Because they are outside the player pool, those prospects will be included as players to be named later. Presumably, we won’t know their identities until after the end of the season.

    • The White Sox and Indians are “actively involved” in trade talks surrounding Cleveland right-hander Mike Clevinger, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Jon Heyman of MLB Network adds the Braves, Yankees, Padres and Dodgers among Clevinger’s pursuers, adding that the right-hander has a “good chance” to be dealt.

Couple of nice pickups for the Pads in Rosenthal and Moreland. Their pen is banged up and their DHs have left something to be desired.

Trading for a starting pitcher would probably be the best trade for our team, but trading for JD Martinez would sure be the funnest.

The Padres are absolutely going for it. Their offense is going to be really tough to contend with, but their pitching is in need of a lot of help. With all the trades they have made, I would not be shocked if they are going hard after Clevinger, Lynn or Bundy to try to bolster their rotation and probably would be willing to deal from the top of their farm, which they have been able to avoid thus far.

    • I haven't seen really anything about the Dodgers in the last couple of days, but Dave Roberts said today that the team is not interested in any short term rentals and would only be interested in someone that "moved the needle" for a couple of years. This seems to point to the team unlikely to make any moves by the deadline as "needle movers" are not out there in high quantities.
    • Francisco Lindor is supposedly being talked about in trade discussions, though this makes little sense since the Indians are one of the top teams in the AL. The return would have to be astronomical, but it could make some sense if they are seeing an offer that could land them a big time near ready SS prospect in a Clevinger deal, then turn around and net a monster return for Lindor. Have to feel the chances of him actually getting moved are around .00000001%
    • The Reds are in 4th place in the NL Central, are standing in 12th place in the league and have likely the second best pitcher available in trade talks. Yet they are said to be looking to buy here at the deadline in an attempt to squeeze into the postseason. The Reds were an offseason darling by many in the media, but apparently behind the scenes and within their own FO, felt they were at least a year or two away from actually competing. The shortened season seems to have gotten in their heads a bit and they are said to be going for it, even with a pitcher on the edge of FA that could net them a pretty decent return.
    • Pedro Baez and Joe Kelly are said to be nowhere close to returning.
And this just came in from Rosenthal
    • And finally, the loaded Dodgers are attempting to zig while others zag, working on smaller deals in which they would part with some of their depth for prospects.

Guessing this would mean guys like Beaty, Hernandez, Taylor and maybe even Pederson types that may not be getting the PT they want.

Padres are said to be the frontrunner for Mike Clevinger. They’re all in from the looks of it.

Padres on the verge of acquiring C Austin Nola. Nola looked really good in our series with the Mariners.

A couple of underrated acquisitions (Grisham and Cronenwoth) have already paid dividends.

Should all go to the Indians for Lindor.
    Give up Lux for him.
Can't let the Padres shore up their pitching.
We need to have another top hitter when the WS rolls around.

Nightengale (I know) is reporting that a new mystery team has jumped into the Clevinger talks and have an offer better than the Padres. Looks like this will go down to the wire.
