It’s more of the Dodgers will have too many other options. He definitely didn’t intentionally delay surgery

You know I joke about Davey-proofing the lineup. There's no such concept in reality... maybe there is in fantasy land. Don't you look forward to this new team winning 100+, possibly 110+, and the media saying, "See, Roberts is a great manager?"

This will likely be an unpopular opinion. I believe the Dodgers should look to move Muncy.

It's not that I dislike him. I like him a lot when the ball is sailing from his bat to the stands 30-something times a year. And I like him a little when he works any of his 5000 walks a season. But that's about all he does. His defense is usually serviceable, though nothing to write home about. When he's at the plate in a key moment, I know there's but a one-in-five chance at best that he comes through, unless he works a walk and leaves it to the next guy to get the big hit. But the main reason is that I believe Busch deserves a full-season shot at transitioning his minor league success to the majors. What, does he need to win another PCL MVP at OKC? Give him 162 games at third to see if he can be a .300 hitter with power for us. With Ohtani at DH, FF locking down 1B, and Mookie supposedly being a full time second baseman now, that leaves 3rd and only 3rd for Max. We have enough data now to know that he's a .200 hitter. And even though he displayed plenty of power last year, it only resulted in an .808 OPS which is good but not good enough. Not enough for THAT position on THIS team. We need more there. It's time to move on.

so here is how midseason tommy john works almost all of the time. His last start last season was June 10th, he underwent tommy john more than 2 months later after trying to rehab and come back. do you know why they do this? They definitely looked at the MRI and saw the tear and knew he would need surgery no matter what. If he gets the surgery right away 2023 was 99% likely lost either way. Its a minimum 12 month recovery but can also be an 18 month recovery and he'd also need rehab outings to get back. Its like when they let Gonsolin pitch 6 weeks with a tear in his elbow this year too, kind of because they were desperate and they also knew that 2024 was chalked either way.

not that big a fan of muncy either
i was stunned when they re-signed him so quickly
but that unfortunately is why they probably won’t move him

If I were an agent Anaheim would be the last place I’d recommend to one of my clients, let alone the reigning Cy Young winner. Arte Moreno should have built a team around Mike Trout or traded him years ago. He single-handedly wasted the prime of one of the greatest players to ever play. Injuries, sure… they said the same thing about Mickey Mantle. Fuck the Angels, fuck Arte Moreno, and fuck anyone who believes the Angels are from Los Angeles.

At the very least Busch needs to platoon with Taylor or Vargas in left.

Saw some clips with "Yossy" on the back of his jersey in Japan. I think that's a thing there right? Like Ichiro instead of Suzuki. Anyhow, beats typing Yamamoto every time I post about him. By the way, his splitter and curve look deadly.
