No worries, rube, I'm just telling you what it looks like from my vantage point.

I suppose anyone can claim victim at anytime for anything with the right spin. It sounded like you were saying because she's a 23-year old female who just broke up with her boyfriend and there happened to be a big, determined 17-year old male around, she was fucked (no pun intended). My guess is 99.9% of women make the right choice in this situation, shoot the kid down before he makes any headway. Whether she felt like it/accepted it or not, she was in a position of authority over the kid, and I think it's ok to have an expectation of her in this situation to do the right thing.

If I'm being completely honest, I think society is too judgmental in many of these situations. There are far worse crimes in the world than 17 year olds (male or female) having sex with 23 year old teachers. It's probably a sign that the teacher is in the wrong profession, but it's not nearly on the same level of sex crime as having sex with a prepubescent child or forcing sex on someone. I also don't really care that she's a stripper now, except that it is another obvious lack of judgment on her part if she is also going to make this a big public story. For example, if I was a judge on this case and the prosecution used the stripper thing as a judge of character, I would not take it into consideration.

 

The woman was a teacher. She was in a role of leadership and supposed to be setting an example. The kid sounds like a real loser, but he's also her subservient and under 18. And it's not like the guy raped her or did anything she didn't want to do. She also cheated on her boyfriend to have sex with this kid. And I don't get her being the victim when she's the one leaving romantic post it notes on his car. The kid might be a predator but he's also just a kid. It doesn't matter if he manipulated her, she always had the choice to say no.

 

I feel bad for her. But not because what she did. I feel bad for her because she doesn't even realize what she did was wrong. The kid may have mislead her but she still hasn't admitted what she did was wrong too. Not just sleeping with a student but cheating on her boyfriend because of a fight. I don't think she has any moral values at all.

 

She needs help, but that doesn't make her a victim. And her post teacher professional decision seems to suggest to me a real psychological issue of hyper sexual exhibitionism. I mean who in their right minds would become a stripper after having been fired for having sex with a student who was your student?

Just got back from the Garbage concert. Shirley Manson is fucking amazing. Saw them last October too, and they put on a great show. The show was at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (my first time there) and I don't think there could be a better venue for a concert. We brought in our own picnic and wine, and set up a blanket on the lawn. Great place.

Best part of the night - we get there early and are looking for a place to setup, there is plenty of room at the front of the blanket area (which is right behind the standing area, 75' from the stage) but instead of setting up in the front, my wife picks out a second row spot behind another blanket. Good thinking, we are basically just as close to the stage but with a little breathing room behind the standing room crowd. I lay down our Dodgers blanket, pour 2 glasses of wine, and then my wife points to a pair of crutches sitting behind the blanket in front of us. She leans over with a big fucking grin and whispers "I picked this spot because this guy won't be standing in front of us". So cold and calculating, but damnit if she wasn't right, the guy couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes at a time before needing to take a break. Not that it really mattered the view was great no matter what, but it's nice to remember why you love the person you married.

And before you feel bad for the poor, crippled guy - his girlfriend was fucking STACKED and he spent most of the concert having his way with her. I'm not totally convinced there wasn't a There's Something About Mary situation going on.

All in all, a great night without baseball. Now back to the stress of the postseason.
