Anyone else wish we didn't leave Britain's political system behind when we left?
Watching how quickly they change course is pretty impressive.
And even though i'm not a fan of the exiting PM you have to love the humor of his final comments
Something like "after meeting w the queen I was checking my afternoon and find my schedule is surprisingly open"

I love the way the House of Commons operates. They yell and scream at each other. Trade insults. It's chaos and yet they all respond quite artfully and eloquently. The PM is called on the carpet to answer questions directly. I think it's cool.

You run the risk of an Australian situation though. They've changed PM so many times in the last decade nobody gives a fuck anymore.

On the home front, in case anyone is interested. We're in an election year and the current government is going for a record fourth term. Nobody in history has topped three terms here, and they're likely to win.

They were your average right-wing party who swung to the middle, and in retaliation the main left-wing party pushed even further left and lost touch with everyone but unemployed non-voters. Fucking genius. Another thing they do if a minor party pushes an issue, and it's a good idea. They simply say good work, implement it themselves and take all the kudos. They crack me up, some good old scummy politics.

A middle of the road party? Implementing good ideas of others? Who cares who gets the kudos as long as they are supporting good ideas and have moderate values. So you guys have a 1-party system, eh?

Nah bro. We run what's called a 'MMP' system. More often than not an election result depends on the minor parties forming a coalition to get a major party over the 50% threshold required to govern. This results in minor party leaders getting important government portfolio's negotiated with a major party. Minor parties have a lot of power, as long as they can get +5% of the national vote, or win an electorate or two in their region.

Except the current government last election got something like 56% of the vote and could theoretically govern alone. They still formed a couple of coalitions with the far right parties in exchange for them not running against each other in wealthy regions and risking the split vote.

We voted for this MMP system in the early 90's. I'm a fan of it.

speaking of shuffling madness i really don't get all these people walking around playing that pokemon game
i see groups of kids late at night staring at their phones not looking at or talking to each other
phone zombies were bad enough before this game came along and now its unreal if you look around
i know its a fad until the next one but excuse me if i think we have lost our way as a civilization and the end is near

from a business standpoint i can see why you might want to lure potential customers i guess

When i was working for a games company last year i talked about a game i called Hunt Dragon.
In which you played the role of a dragon hunter like the slayers of medieval legend finding and slaying dragons.
Except here the dragons would be a number of things depending on the type of class your dragon hunter was.
The software AI would train itself with experience as you dealt with such dragons, learning and growing like a character in an RPG.
There would be all sorts of dragons for you to chase and try to kill.
From the standards of drunks and crackheads to bullies and douchebags.
If a person was showing behavior recognized by the AI as dragon behavior the software would overlay dragonkin features over that person. Humanoids with serpent/lizard type features.
It would map facial characteristics and turn a dude you walk by who gives you a dirty look into a low level dragon operative you have to fight.
If somebody treats you like shit you get to fight them. If your teacher is being a dick you get to fight him his visage in the game becomes one of an overbearing dragon mage.
Drugs, Alcohol and other things people consume become potions and other forms of magic in the game.
Existential problems or personal demons become personified as huge boss dragons to be annihilated.
Giving young people a tool to help them deal with the things that they cant readily deal with in their lives.
Then someone showed me what pokemon go was somewhat similar in theory.
