It's probably diluted now, and doesn't ring as true as it once did because the lines are so blurred, but the Churchillian quote " when you're 20, and not a liberal, you have no heart. When you're 40, and you're not a conservative, you have no brain"...I know for myself for that to be true, although the specific ages differed somewhat for me.
It will always be that way.
Fashion models, for a time, hawking for the design house they worked for, wore one item after another with Che Guevara's image on it. Very tres chic. Love that beret !
The guy was a psychotis murderer.
    Such is the human condition.

    " I dream of becoming a killing machine "

    Damn straight.

I always teach my students that Che was such a badass. Fully committed revolutionary. Yeah. Wear that bitchen stressed-image shirt, kid. Rock it.

Then I let them know that when Che was captured and was facing execution, despite what Wikipedia and other sources say about his heroic, defiant death, that he named names to spare himself, and offered to hand over his fellow officers in the rebel army in exchange for pardon. True or false? Tough to say, but the old Latinos from that time (including one Cuban refugee and a Chilean political prisoner) that I know personally all claim he was a pussy who hid behind his ego and his ability to get laid faster than most of his peers. Normally, I'd admire that.

    Anyway, I'm glad he's dead.

I did it all backwards. I went from conservative, to liberal, to anarcho-capitalist...all over the course of my 20s.

Most of us on this forum probably fit this description.
Even Bill Maher is starting to notice that the liberals he champions are not on his anti politically correct side anymore. They have turned into Tipper Gore and the moral majority.
Young people without a heart grow up to be old liberals but they never stop using fear mongering of existential threats real or imagined to terrorize whomever bends the ear.

I want to see him make a doc about the history of white trash swamp yankee children of the corn cracker redneck squatters and their irish whores.
    The real americans.
You go to a city like pomona and go to one of its hoods and you see equal parts brown, black, and white... but they are all the same people skin deep. All have different customs and cultural backgrounds but they all share certain certainties of life that go way deeper than colors, feasts and holydays.
Plus lots of churches with pent up furies near cheap liquor stores and good food everywhere for you to show them a good time. Plus it always smells like the last days of the 3rd week of April everywhere you go.
I have a strong affinity for this type of place.
    And those kind of people.
I think its where I feel the most at ease.
Or with wealthy well educated white people.
That is particularly easy and enjoyable as long as you only talk about wealthy educated white people shit.

When I looked at Lux, I knew there was somebody he really reminded me of...finally, it came while watching an old western.
    Audie Murphy.
Probably the greatest American hero of all time. And just a kid, too.
    Good omen.
That's two, the other being Robots' ejection.
The gods favor us...they have shown us the way.

Very astute. Audie Murphy it is.

My father once met Sergeant York. He loved Audie Murphy too, but I think he preferred York because he just had that quality about him which we rarely see... Humility, unassuming, incredibly talented.

Are there any current athletes who embody those three characteristics?

You could add Judge to that list.
