That's happened twice here at school in the last year. In the old west, you'd be hanged for that bullshit. Although horses before 1853 didn't require that device.

Idk he's Jewish and on top of that Hitler was the ultimate cult of personality. An incredibly sick person but also a one of a kind bender of reality. Why he'd lose his job over it is kind of fucked up imo. The most insane people in history are still fascinating if only on the sheer force of their personalities. I think it's getting about time people calm down.

    I get both these pe6rspectives.

He had to know he was fucking himself up, but people take off-hand comments too seriously these days ... TIME named him [and Stalin & Kruschev & the Ayatollah] as Man of the Year at some point. It was never about lauding them - it was reflection of their newsworthiness.

Umm, he expressed his admiration for his leadership skills. That’s like saying you admire Satan for his ability to lead hell. Or that you admire the Ayatollah for taking over Iran and taking hostages and murdering innocent civilians. Or admiring Osama Bin Laden for being able to lead and creating a new terrorist organization that killed more Americans than were killed in Pearl Harbor.

Is this someone who should lead a team full of kids or have any excuse for?

As I think about it, it's like this: in 1985, I went to CSUF's library and checked out Mein Kampf. The librarian and several students gave me a weird glance & a wider berth. Some classmates that week gave me the double take when they saw me with the copy.

A week into the read, I returned it. It was a piece of shit. Adolf wrote like I maintain a slim physique. He was all over the fucking place, anecdotally and without flow. Just terrible shit. So I gave his malignant mind a chance to be the human he was born to be. But he clearly was an evil man. He wasn't crazy - he was evil. Millions of people are abandoned by a father & have an impoverished childhood. He chose to poison his rise with plans to murder Jews & the untermensch of Europe.

I never wanted to eat with the guy. I just read him long enough to learn that 1] he was a piss poor writer and 2] twisted and evil.

This coach... he could've stated that 'I always wondered how Hitler could lead a nation back from the greatest financial fall in modern history ... all while being an evil sack of shit. But I'd never eat with the fucking guy..." That quote would've won him double points & he'd still be OC on some Div2 nowhere program.

    Anyway ... stupid jocks, man.

Both were able to bring the American global empire to its knees, if only for a short time. And both were loved by those who followed them.
It's interesting to understand their methods and how they achieved what they did.

Treating them like Voldemort and trying to erase their names is a particularly childish way of forgetting history.
And just because a person is evil, from our point of view, doesn't meant that every aspect of their character, or every one of the action is without value. We can still learn from them--our task as grown ups is to hold the totality of their actions in context while allowing ourselves the benefit of understanding their methods/tactics.

They say Satan played a mean fiddle before he started tripping.
Try checking out that songbook at the library.

All of them. Even the guys like Mao and Stalin, that were *worse* that Hitler. They're just people, not made up boogie-fiddle-players.

In keeping with the narrative of genocide and violence in general, I came across some numbers that are very surprising...WAR if you will, the real life one.
World War II killed 66 million people. 66 million. Military and civilian. Staggering amount. The greatest amount of human life lost in conflict since the beginning of recorded history.
But, pro- rating that number out against the world population at that time (2.8 billion), it does not stay number one...Ghengis Khan and the Golden Horde becomes the worst ever, considering percentage of.populations destroyed against the whole.
In fact, WWII falls to eighth. Those damned Mongols...and some the other purges of human life which rank above it, are hardly ever even mentioned.
I find that mind boggling, considering 66 million dead by 1945.
Violence, what a queer little man are you...
