NY Post has Mookie at +900 to win MVP, highsr than any other playsr in either league.
I guess that's good and matters, right ?
Seems like there should be someone with better odds...or maybe my feelings are just borne of utter disappointment.

they're firing paramedics and anyone standing who knew the officers
while i get that all the guy had to do was comply there's no excuse for kicking him to death
and no idea what happened prior to the scene or how he got 6 cops on his ass

Good question...what did he do to attract that much attention ? Not like he tried to pass counterfeit money or anything, right ? Or his system was full of drugs like fentayl .
    It's Whitey's fault, ultimately.
Even though they were all black, the " Scorpions" were trained by white cadre...case closed.
And now they have not only a white cop involved, he looks trans gender. All bases covered.
Additionally, all relatives of the police and ambulance drivers, will be sent to gulags.

yeah they get to do pretty much what they want to do and the outdoor dog looks like it could be an akita
had to separate the wolves due to fighting but the one that stays in my room has access in and out 24/7
i just leave one of the doors open w a full magnetic door screen which i'm told leaves my room at crypt temps but hey its our cave
she has a super plush bed at the foot of the bed which is typically where i find her in the morning
neither one would ever think of climbing on any of the furniture though as that is not a dog's place and we have that understanding
as well as not staring at me while i'm eating cause beggars don't get rewarded around here!
other than that its a pretty decent existence
i would imagine you have a dag or two out there in Kentucky by now?

My kids REALLY want a dog but I'm realistic. If they get a dog, I'll be the one walking and taking care of the dog. It's one thing to tell a nine-year-old what she's expected to do, but that's a big difference between what she actually will do. And with her being the oldest, I'm not expecting too much.

I was going to ask your advice and the advice of the board on this anyway...... I'm a believer in emptying pounds and shelters of unwanted dogs, but out here, just as in SoCal, that means mostly pitbulls. Easily 80% of the dogs in Lexington and Louisville in the shelters are pits. I don't hate the breed, but there ain't no way I'm getting one.

So my question is this - do I go ahead and wait until I find a pound puppy that we can grab up that's a halfway decent mutt, or do I go to one of the many local breeders for a border collie or an Aussie shepherd or some other purebred? This is hunting country, and there's easily a half a dozen places within an hour's drive of here that raise top notch purebred hounds and hunters. The father of one of my students raises border collies, and the more I see of that breed, the better I like it. Even with them giving me a price break, the difference between going to the pound and going to a breeder is about 500 bucks minimum.

Advice is always welcome, unless it's from @irish ... . He molests goats.... I may love him, but I don't trust him.

I'll probably rescue my next dogs as much as i hate to consider losing the ones i have
doing research on akitas there's quite a few rescues and people just don't know how work w them so i see beautiful animals i know i could save
but the difference between you and i is that you have young children and puppies and kids go together
i really wanted to get an Australian shepherd a few years back but my daughter didn't like the eyes
between those and border collies you're tapping into the top of the intelligent breeds and need to be on your game
if you can get one of those breeds for $500 i wouldn't hesitate to make one a part of your pack
worst part is everyone falls in love and then has their heart broken but that's life in a nutshell right?
definitely think you should go w a pup and follow your instinct on breed
oh and do your research on breed specifics as there are hundreds of groups and sources
if i had done mine i would never have put two female akitas together

We have a border collie/aussie mix. 3/4 border, 1/4 aussie. She looks mostly like a border collie, just a little less lean. She's a great dog - very smart. Loves people. Socially awkward around other dogs - likely because she hasn't had a lot of exposure to them. I'd trust her unequivocally around young kids. She's never even got close to biting anyone or even a peep of a growl from her. But she needs outdoor time every day, and lots of it. She does well with routine. We go out every morning and feed the chickens, and she's right there with me as if it's her job, even though she's not really doing anything. Well maybe she feels she's standing guard. As a pup she'd chase the hens, but now she sits among them with no issues. Then I'll go tend to my fruit trees and she follows me around. I know she's waiting until I grab her frisbee and that's when she gets most of her exercise. I can fling it as far as possible and she'll still retrieve it, and she's great at catching in on the fly if I give it enough hang time. I'm usually the one that tires first, even though she's doing most of the work. Great dog, as I said, but we have five acres and I don't know if she'd be happy if it was much less than that. I guess the alternative would be daily walks, but this is certainly not a breed to be house bound or cooped up in a small yard. If you feel you can give it the space and/or daily attention it needs, then I say it'd be a good choice.

Thanks for that, brother. What a testimony.

Five acres! I wish we.had a bigger lot. We're residential at half an acre, but there's a creek a mile away and all the dog owners here walk their dogs there to get their runs in.

We'll see how it plays out. A dog is inevitable... border or shepherd... can't miss either way I'm sure.

Does ending an engagement on Valentine's Day of all days make me a massive asshole?

Sometimes you just reach a breaking point and the day on the calendar becomes irrelevant...
