so now Oakland can blow their wad on Thomas, Knighton and... Rodney Hudson. Son of a bitch.

 

this is starting off incredibly bad, Raiders have no excuses to not be making "desperation bids" with the amount of money they MUST spend.

 

It's being reported now that they offered around 12M a year..basically an average of what the Top 5 receivers in the game make. I think that's a pretty good offer for a slot receiver. He's the best slot receiver in the game, but he's still a slot receiver and not nearly one of the 5 best WRs in football.

Historically it's always been easier to get a top wideout through the draft or through trade because if left to choose most good receivers are gonna pick the team with the best QB..especially the young WRs who may have paydays in their future. Raiders will probably just have to get their guy in the draft.

Julius Thomas may actually feel the same at the end of the day..his dad played for Pete Carroll and so Thomas has been tied to Seattle/Russell Wilson. You look at a guy like Jermaine Gresham, who the Raiders now have interest in, he's pretty consistent as far as production in the pass catching game, but he's the best blocking tight end among the pass catching tight ends that are available. He might be a good complement to Mychal Rivera. We'll see. We need Streater to come back and do what he's capable of..that along with Cooper or White upgrades us outside.

all i can think of is maybe they wanna complement Rivera and Rivera and Thomas are too similar. Del Rio knows Thomas..
