if it comes down to a lefty hitter off the bench... does the front office/roberts favor dre over adrian?
Right now it’d probably have to be Andre I assume. He’s been more consistent in his quality at bats, is a bit healthier, and has more experience off the bench.
i'd like to think so but a lot could still be determined the next several days especially if we clinch home field and doc gives both pt
The trick is to NEVER expect anything from him, he'll only disappoint you. He's terrible. Go into the AB expecting nothing, and anything ANYTHING becomes a positive. It's called the Grandal effect.
I'm glad it's our guy, but damn...does Wood look like a pitcher that would have a 16-3 season? That's great, even though the lesser records get the talk, like Ray for instance. I wonder why? Against the Padres, all those hits and their lineup translates to a W in the end, but I think you honestly have to wonder how it translates up against playoff team. I guess he starts, and the Dodgers use him in a four man rotation, somewhere in with CK, Yu, and Hill. Although it is a distant possibility, very distant, is the bp a realistic place for a 16-3 guy? His command looks pretty good, got taken deep on a ankle high pitch, but his velocity does look like an issue, imo We'll see.
Best part about last night was Seager. Hoping he can find a bit of a groove since his bat will play a big role in how far we go in the playoffs.
Well, there was talks yesterday from Dave that Wood might not be a starter in the playoffs. It makes a ton of sense to have Ryu as the #4 and Wood in the bullpen. Ryu has arguably been better than Wood lately as a starter, but Wood’s stuff plays up in the bullpen. as you said, Wood has been uninspiring lately... velocity down, K’s down, home runs up. He might be better suited in bullpen. Plus, there’s a great chance you have a much bigger impact for the playoffs as a middle inning reliever rather than a 4th starter. The 4th starter is going to pitch one game a series and will probably only throw 4-5 innings. As a middle reliever, Wood might pitch the same amount of innings in a series but each inning would be of more importance. If Ryu comes out of his start friday looking good, I think it’s a great option.
I like this idea a lot. Wood would be very valuable out of the pen and could solve our big 6th-7th inning weakness while not missing a beat in the rotation with Hill/Ryu who would have been better than him as of late. Would like to think Wood would get a lot more swings and misses out of the pen since he wouldn't have to pace himself.
To me Wood's got to pitch out of the pen. Both because of the decrease in velocity in the second half and the fact that we have two good relievers. If we have Wood, Morrow and Kenley back there we really wouldn't need another RP other than maybe situationally or in blow up starts
Wood could also give them multiple inning efforts out of the pen, similar to Blanton when he was at his best for LAD. I like the idea as well. Nice that Wood has recent experience as a reliever too. I'd maybe feel differently if Ryu had a poor post season resume. Wood would be making his 1st career post season start
Looks like we are back to a 3-man rotation. It's not the worst thing in the world, I guess. Bottomline, if it gets to game 4 of the series so we either face elimination or have a chance to close out the series... and we have a choice between Kershaw on short rest or Ryu... well, this happens every year. I thought this year would be different.
Yeah, it looks like it'll come down to the series score. In 2015 & 2016, we used Kershaw on short rest at 1-2 and won both games. Up 2-1, I'd imagine Ryu pitches.
