You mean start him every day? He started hitting/slugging again after they stopped starting him every day.
With that 1 for 30 stretch to end July..you gotta take action. It's not like he's a long time stalwart with a long track record.
If LAD ever has a best player that goes .067/.152/.233 over a 10 game stretch they could be mistaken for the Padres.
What they're doing right now with Muncy is probably best for him.

Another win that felt like a loss.

Another blown save, another strong Kershaw start wasted, another batch of blown scoring opportunities and more stupid baseball (see Puig, Yasiel). That numb nuts doesn't back up second properly on Machado's throwing error, then compounds it with a stupid throw on Kershaw saves his ass by alertly backing up third.

All that and they still shaved a game off Arizona's lead. Can't succeed playing like that long term, though

Too bad, brother. Jansen's been a sucker to me since he blew the SFG series and skipped out on the post game media session. And that was 2016. Lost respect there.

I legit wanted Kenley to leave in FA..truly thought the Marlins would do some dumb shit on behalf of Donnie Dumbass over there. But he's locked in for good now. Nobody's gonna want a reliever making that much scratch, who's quickly approaching 30th best reliever in baseball status. We have problems at the top of this payroll.

Jansen had a horrible start to the season, and his three games since returning have been downright putrid. I was so annoyed that he basically served it up to Hedges yesterday and lost the lead. I almost expected it at that point - that he would blow the save.

But the bottom line is that the Dodgers need him, and he can still be an effective - even dominant - closer, as demonstrated by the 44 games this season between the slow start and his return from the heart thing, where he pitched 47.2 innings, allowing only 7 ERs (1.32 ERA, 0.797 WHIP) and converted 30 of 31 save opportunities.

If they make up the 2.5 games and get in the playoffs, it won't be without Jansen returning to form.

Puig has been trash defensively this season. Utter trash
K% up, BB% down, ISO down..none considered surprises, offensively
But for him to be trash defensively, that's a surprise..UZR trash, Dwar trash, DRS meh, all evident with the eye test
A platoon split man that's trash defensively..Puig must have dedicated this season to Ethier

And in honor of Ethier, the time has come for Puig to only start against RHP
LAD has gotten nothing out of trotting him out against LHP, not even a defensive spark, not this year
Didn't run him out there against Richard the other night, a guy he normally handles..may as well stay with that approach
Shit, last 10 starts for Puig - .235/.225/.265, .562 OPS over nearly 40 plate appearances - trash
Maybe the oblique thing has returned and is hurting him at the plate over this stretch?
Whatever the case, his reputation as a great defensive RF has taken a hit this year.

My problem is the mental shit. He should be way past that and he isn't.

That he sat against Richard shows what the FO/Roberts think of him. Not sure you can win much of anything long term with uber streaky players like Grandal, Puig and Joc.

Well he’s been the best player on the team this year. Leads in fWAR by a full win over the next hitter and consistently takes better AB’s than anyone other than Turner. Benching him for Machado, Bellinger or Turner makes sense, but Taylor, Kemp or Puig makes none.

Other than Kemp, I would put Muncy in there over Puig and CT. Putting CT in there game in and game out really pissses me off. If it was deemed a good thing to send down Puig and Joc to fix their swings, what in the hell is CT still doing up here? Leads the NL in SOs and leaves no impression in HRs.....so Roberts puts him in for ....what?

Don’t get me wrong. Puig is the mental midget he’s proven to be from the beginning but at least he has some potential in RF. Grandad....well he catches....which is the only complement I can think of right now. But what is CT’s excuse.

The mental shit? Racist. *wipes tears* So much of this game is mental..I remember earlier in the season when his dumbass inexplicably took off for 2B, but Belli was paying attention and athletic enough to take advantage and get home safely. In the post game interview at his locker, Belli literally thanked Puig for being an idiot. Smh

I'm at the point where I no longer expect Puig to acquire sound judgement with more experience. There have been players throughout this game's history that just never figure it out from a judgement standpoint. Every day that Belli survives a day in CF with Puig in RF, we really should celebrate. Some may think that Joc was disappointed to lose much of his CF duties..think again..not with the last action hero in RF. Maybe that was part of Belli's prob, his struggles at the plate for much of this year when playing CF..anxiety..knowing he's 1 well hit gapper away from perishing? Sitting against Richard should've felt like a slap in the face, but the response last night wasn't ideal. He has to pick it up defensively.

That he has. But does that mean it will continue? You're a sample size guy..what about his career thus far tells you this will continue late into the season? And when he went 1-30 at the end of July, do you seriously blame them for now cutting his work down? Especially since it seems to be working..

I'm not a Taylor, Puig or Kemp guy by any means, Kemp is trash. But I can understand what they're doing with Muncy.

CT3 doesn't need to be sent to the minors. He's fine at what he does. Plays multiple positions competently and is a great backup. He's just not an every day player. If he needs to play every day for a spell (injuries or something), he needs to be batting 8th. The answer here is to play him less.

Guys like CT3, 2017 Barnes and Kike, Toles, etc is they're REALLY good role players that can slide in and do a nice job for a while.
Remember the old days when a player went down and we had Skip Schumaker, Aaron Miles, Jamie Carroll and Jerry Hairston in our starting lineup? That was brutal. Glad that's over.
But the FO is getting greedy and using our younger, more gifted role/platoon players as starters and it's not working.

Only one position tops should be a platoon.

Roberts as a manager SUCKS. That’s what’s wrong with this team. He is a Manager that talks a good game but cannot walk the good game. We ain’t winning shit with him as captain of this team. We beat the lowly Padres. Wow that should be automatic but we can’t seem to finish the rival giants get swept by the Cards. Etc. to much to point out. I don’t want to be negative and doom and gloom but Roberts ship has sailed as a Manager. As an assistant might be his calling.

I wish we could bring Beltre back. Nowhere for him to play and luxury tax shit going on, but if we sneak into the post (yeah right) and he hit a big HR that'd be pretty cool.

Maybe they'll hit the switch and get Muncy back going every day? We'll see. But I think the lessened work load may have helped him recover this month. If they throw him out there every day and he turns back into late July Muncy..won't be anybody's fault. It's desperation time, so the club has to do what they have to do, especially given the other shitty options. And won't really be able to blame Muncy either if he hits the wall since this year for him is not the norm and he's never swam this deep before.

All of a sudden, with Belli hitting, if Muncy can hold on late here, maybe they can somehow keep these games from being close enough for Jansen to blow them.

Brought in to be resident politician and enable his BFF Adrian and other vets. I hated it at the time for that reason..especially when all the players started throwing their support behind him before he had the job. They had a wimp in their sights and they knew it.

Should've been like, " oh, you're here to throw your support behind candidate Dave Roberts? Get the hell outta my office..ya play for whomever I tell you to play for. If I hire Byron Scott to manage, you chokers will play for the tank commander and be happy about it. " Full OOOG Steinbrennar.
