    1. How else are you supposed to adjust for purchasing power in different eras? Feelz? Everything seemed better then?
    2. All of those together might amount to 2%. Even if you lump them all into the lower class, still doesn't change the point. I looked up the data on the prision population, it was 500k our of 52M households in 1965, 2.3M out of 127M households in 2016. It's still shameful and the number should probably only be 10-25% of that, but it wasn't as high as I though, and only about %1/household higher than 1965. Numbers on the homeless are much harder to find, but I imagine its less than the gain of incarcerated.
    3. Speculation. Don't have the granularity for either era. Don't know if its worse (like you say) or better. Feelz will always tell you its worse now and better then.
    4. The data doesn't back that up. The data says that eat the stack and maybe save a stack have both decreased, while stacks and stacks have increased.

I think the psychology surrounding this is fascinating. People will always assume it was "better" back then and things are getting worse now.
It's very hard to admit that in general economy and quality of life is steadily improving. Both worldwide and in the United States.
If you admit quality of life is getting better generally, then individuals have to look inward if their quality of life isn't up to their expectations.
But if you can say that quality of life is getting worse for everyone, you don't have to shoulder as much responsibility for your own situation.

    1. Nope. Talking to the wrong guy.
    2. Its who is in prison and for what and how long and why and how that affects entire communities for generations since those and other slavery replacing methods were implemented. For production to increase as it has there must be a slave class as in every empire in the history of the world. You don't stop having slaves you just catch and release your slaves and call it by another name. Empire and excessive luxury cannot function without slavery first in conquered territories and then at home as it eventually is viewed as conquered territory.
    3. Not speculation. Historical certainty
    4. Data says Jason Giambi is on par with Mike Piazza, Duke Snyder, Gary Sheffield career wise.

That psychological reasoning is old news man. You think thats what im talking about?
"In my day things were better"... that old yarn?
How bout the opposite one known just as well that in the past things were tougher so we just had to deal with it having to walk 5 miles in the snow to get to school in wet clothes and we liked it. Proverbs can go either way and every grandma knows em better than a psyche.

Things were horrible before the boom era we are talking about.
As the country transitioned from all of the wars only to get into world wars.
It was way worse before WW2 for the lower classes.
The difference was the those at the top were not within reach.
Nothing was within reach. Now it is and its in your face daily.
A reality that you can see but can't feel.
That is not a good 'feelz' to put into masses of uneducated lower classes.
Even worse in the ones our own educational system will create.
That is where those with those feels are going to get ideas that will upend state and current.

Nobody is talking about how things are for everyone. Just the poor working class.
They are the ones who define where a society is headed.
Before you go forward you must always protect your six.

The measure of a society is not the middle class or how many people are rich and how rich but how many people are poor and what kind of poor.
Society is a herd of buffalo and if those at the front run so fast that they force the middle of the pack to play catch up leaving the trailing slow and otherwise challenged members of your community as easy pickins for predators.
Sure thats Darwin for the win. A 'good thing' for the gene pool.
    Fuck that evil mentality.
It is not a good thing for society to feed the predators.
When a society does this they are close to the end.
Like the mayans feeding virgins to the gods.
If you feed a predator it gets stronger and it gets bolder.
And soon enough it brings a friend and then another.
Soon enough those predators start reaching the middle of the pack.
After eating so many of the weak buffalo they are completely familiarized with the culture.
The predator can enter the middle of the pack wearing his fine buffallo hair suit and fool all the other suits.
Thats the flip side of the Darwin story they forget to get to.
Like in silence of the lambs.

its not that i hate castles or anything its just such a huge and typically unnecessary way to show how small your dick must be
at least in the family castles further inland
now the fortress type castles like San Juan and Edinburgh i find incredibly fascinating
lookout posts pointed toward raging seas w cannons ready fuck yes
and the different ways they were able to feed the balls to the artillery are pretty cool indeed

Yeah my take is that you're referring to the difference between true castles meant to withstand siege and capable of active defense vs. fortified manor homes of the uber rich and famous. If so then I agree.
I once stayed at the Adair Manor a truly impressive manor home with it's own acreage of vegetable gardens and a private golf course. Still just a damned fancy big house where they NEVER swept the spiders out of the entry hall (yuck cried Blue Eyes) vs. staying at Kilkea Castle, a tiny 29 room stone castle 2 hours out of Dublin, nestled in a swale among trees with ramparts and 11 foot thick walls where it's first line of defense was being hard to locate. The locals told stories of the neighboring village getting ransacked because they couldn't locate the castle.
I also visited monstrous Carcassonne castle in southern France which protected their king once upon a time and was so large that the entire village lived inside and an opposing army tried to lay siege and gave up after a year and sacked some other place.
Defensive castles with channels for the boiling oil to spill out gargoyle mouths onto the front gate, arrow slots everywhere and stacks of cannon balls elevated for easy access for reloading were cool. Steep circular stairways that prevented (right handed) attackers from attacking while defenders could swing freely. Secret passages. Of course history shares many tales of castles being turned into prisons when their owners sided with the wrong team such as Chateux de Foix which was cool for its location with amazing views up and down the valley and it's three stone towers, round, square and triangular one of which the owner died in for backing the wrong side.

Defensive castles = way cool whereas manor homes = tiny stubs

White Castle = gastro tract pain indeed
I recalled it was better in my youth
But when back east a couple years ago I saw one and insisted on grabbing some my family was disgusted with the smell.
As was I once I burped

A Chinese woman with a thumb drive containing malware as well as multiple passports and electronic devices was arrested at The Mar-a-Lago Club on Saturday after she made her way past a security checkpoint, according to a federal criminal complaint.

President Donald Trump was at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter at the time, according to White House press pool reports.

Yujing Zhang appeared in court Monday on charges of unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds and making false statements to federal law enforcement agents.
Zhang — who also had two passports, four cellphones, a laptop and a hard drive — told a Secret Service agent her father was a club member and she was visiting the pool, the complaints states.
She said club security had allowed her to enter because of "a language barrier," the complaint states.
The on-duty manager said someone with the last name Zhang was a club member, but Secret Service could not confirm that she was a club member, the complaint states
A golf-cart valet picked up Zhang and asked her where she wanted to go, but she said she wasn't sure, so the valet dropped her off at the main reception area, the complaint states.
They passed three Secret Service agents during the ride and Zhang passed through another Secret Service checkpoint before entering the main reception area, the complaint states.
After a receptionist asked Zhang multiple times why she was visiting the club, she said she was attending a United Nations Chinese-American Association event; however, that event didn't exist, the complaint states.
The receptionist determined Zhang wasn't on the club's access list and had her escorted off the property, the complaint states.
A Secret Service agent questioned why Zhang was at the club, and she again claimed she was there to attend an event focused on Chinese-American foreign relations, the complaint states.
During a second interview, Zhang told agents her friend "Charles" told her to travel from Shanghai to Palm Beach to attend the event and to talk to a member of Trump's family about the economic relationship between U.S. and China, the complaint states.
Zhang, who is fluent in English, said she and Charles talked exclusively through WeChat, a popular instant messaging platform used in China, but agents were unable to determine who he is, the complaint states.

Zhang's detention hearing is scheduled for April 8.

The Trump Organization owns the Palm Beach resort.

Can't make up fake news any better/funnier than the real news stories these days

Ex-Congressman's Russian Bank Loses License for Money Laundering
A regional Russian bank owned by a former U.S. congressman had its license revoked Friday for violations that included breaking rules against money laundering.

Commercial Bank of Ivanovo, in which Republican former North Carolina Representative Charles Taylor owns an 80 percent stake, regularly broke anti-money laundering regulations, misrepresented the size of its provisions and used “schemes” to artificially inflate its capital, according to a central bank statement.

Suspect Russian cash has caught up several lenders in northern Europe, with Swedbank AB’s head Birgitte Bonnesen the latest executive to lose her job over allegations her bank was involved in a $230 billion Danske Bank A/S laundering scandal. In Russia, the central bank has purged more than 40 percent of the country’s lenders since 2013 under Governor Elvira Nabiullina in an attempt to clean up the financial sector and stem suspicious transactions.

Taylor represented North Carolina’s 11th district from 1991 to 2007. In his freshman term, together with Newt Gingrich, he was part of the so-called Gang of Seven that investigated a House banking scandal that fueled the perception of corruption in the lower chamber and helped usher in a Republican majority. He also created exchange programs and internships for Russian students during Russia’s transition from Communism.

As I've stated previously I don't think that the GOP has a monopoly on corruption in politics but they're clearly keeping the pedal to the metal to prevent the idiot Dem's from catching up to the front car on the corruption train either. Not to mention how is it that a 'public servant' amasses so much wealth as to own 80% of a bank? WTF?? Noted that he chose to invest in a Russian bank rather than an American bank... so does that make it better that he 'only' defrauds Russians and not American's?? (well since he's been out of office that is)

Aaaaaaaaaaaand because I mean what I say about both party's leaders being shit stains...

Ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner ordered to register as sex offender

NEW YORK (AP) — Former Rep. Anthony Weiner was ordered Friday to register as a sex offender as he nears the end of a 21-month prison sentence for having illicit online contact with a 15-year-old girl.

A New York City judge designated Weiner a Level 1 offender under the state’s version of what’s known as Megan’s Law, meaning that he is thought to have a low risk of reoffending.

Weiner, a once-rising star in the Democratic Party who served nearly 12 years in Congress, has been living in a halfway house since February after serving most of his sentence at a prison in Massachusetts. He’s due to be released May 14 but still faces three years of court supervision.

Weiner, 54, must register for a minimum of 20 years. He is required to verify his address every year, notify the state within 10 days of moving and visit a police station every three years to have a new picture taken.

Because of his low-level designation, Weiner’s information won’t show up in the state’s online sex offender registry but will be available via a toll-free telephone number. (Influence peddling again?)

Weiner pleaded guilty in May 2017 to transferring obscene material to a minor. Prosecutors said he had a series of sexually explicit Skype and Snapchat exchanges with a North Carolina high school student and encouraged the teen to strip naked and touch herself sexually. At his sentencing, Weiner said he’d been a “very sick man for a very long time” and said he had a sex addiction.

Weiner’s lawyer said the former lawmaker likely exchanged thousands of messages with hundreds of women over the years and was communicating with up to 19 women when he encountered the teenager. It wasn’t the first time Weiner had been caught acting inappropriately. (duh)

After sending a lewd picture of himself to a college student in 2011, Weiner claimed his account had been hacked, then admitted online interactions with at least six other women while married to top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Weiner resigned from Congress, only to try for a political comeback with a run for New York City mayor in 2013. Then came the revelation that Weiner had used the alias “Carlos Danger” to send explicit photos to at least one woman after resigning from Congress.

The Hilarity is that North Carolina was in the news in BOTH stories, a fact that I've shared with my NC relatives
