So I've seen alot of talk about canon possibly signing.with the dodgers and im not posting those merely as a who would u take thread or who is better because simply put cano is the best second baseman in the league hands down.the way I see it though is he's got himself lined up for a 6 or 7 year deal with an AAV probably in or at the very least around $20M.my versus is basically would you rather give cano just say 6/120 or give a guy like chase utley the 2-3 year deal he's looking with an AAV around $12M or so?
6/120 would be a steal!!! I'd do that in a heartbeat. Cano probably going to demand something like 8 years 200M and that scares me off. Chase Utley for 2/24 or 3/36 then sign me the fuck up!!! Josh Hamilton got 5/125, no way Cano takes less than Hammy. I'd consider doing Cano 5/150.
Probably too dependent upon other things to say right now. Depends on what happens with the outfield, and whether we can acquire Utley this season, and then if we do, how he plays.
Okay, I will play. There are several factors here. First, is Cano involved with Biogenesis. If he is, I would stay the hell away. Suspensions will not be served until next year and guaranteed there will be a second round if there is a first. Someone will start rolling. If he is not, it will depend on what he is wanting. If Cano would take 5/120, I would do it in a second. If he wants longer forget it. As far as Utley is concerned, I think he is a complete and utter dickheaded asshole. However, he also plays to win and I admire that. If he were doing it for the Dodgers, I would be quite fine with it. If he is looking and acting 35 on the DL with the Dodgers, not so much.
To be honest, I would be down for either player. Our lineup is already really solid, adding Utley would make it absurd. Adding Cano would make it doubly absurd. Like others have said, I think there are too many other factors right now. Realistically, I see the Yanks going above and beyond to keep Cano.
I go for someone else. I don't know who. IMO, we need a more regular type of player than another power hitting AS type guy. Someone like Mark Ellis that is a better hitter, like a Scutariod type of guy.
Keep in mind utley's best seasons hes was hitting 2nd in the order and while hes is a power hitter he.generally hits right around .300 and he's also one of the few guys my phils have who knows how to make a "productive out"
Well, I'd like Utley...and he'd be perfect except for his bad knees and being injury prone and old...and probably expensive. I'll take Utley over Mark Ellis or Cano though. I do not want Cano. He's doping IMO and way to expensive in both length and cost per year.
I dont think cano signs for less than 6 years and realistically probably lookin at 7. $20m is admitedly low but I think thats his floor no matter what he does the rest of this season.as for utley I dont think hes tops 3 years simply because of concerns over his knees and thats also why I feel 15/year is his ceiling
He's not really injury prone but his knees are a concern but if they hold up the rest of the year I dont know thats it's a major concerm going forward.he started a strengthening program last offseason and it has deffinitely helped him thus far
Yea, that sounds right to me. Cano is fucking awesome, but that is just too much and, more importantly, too long.
I agree, I don't want a player making that much money into his late 30's/early 40's. Here is another issue with Cano, is he even the age he says he is now? Wouldn't shock me if he is a year or two older, being from the Dominican and all.
