DodgerzGM @DodgerzGM 1h @ClaytonKersh22 Congratulations Mr. Kershaw! Feel free to take off the next four days.
Posted it on twitter if you don't mind. It's too perfect. Let's hope he'll be raising his hands in late Oct.
It has always been said that in every no hitter there are one or two plays in it that the defense has to make to preserve it. I guess even more so in a perfecto. Rojas was just aces on the stop and so was Agon with the pick. It must be truly nerve wracking for the D when a pitcher is getting near it...like Pedro Guerrero saying "please don't hit it to me" and such. I don't want to change the subject, but with all the annoying and seemingly painful things going on with Hanley, when it is 8-0, your pitcher is nearing a history making performance, and you are not the best SS going in anyway, I think DBB should have put Triunfel in as soon as the score went to 8-0. Y'know-manager stuff. I couldn't think of "why not Donnie"? Then I thought about it, and taking a veteran out of a game like that, a guy who has raked often for you, could be misconstrued as a smack in the face. Not an easy call there at all...but that's why they pay you the big bucks, hoosier. Anyway, I agree, just like the Class Act CK always is, Hanley should be supported 100% by fans and players alike. He'll probably run this over a housand times in his head, and that's enough said about the poor bastard. He said as he went to the bank....
I suppose I live in a bit of a fairy tale world, always have, so I've been told all my life. But in the cosmic symmetry of the universe, doesn't it seem , with two no-hitters already, that the Dodgers could/should go on and end the drought of the past quarter century? I mean, for once, can't it be like the movies?
Man what a game. My niece was begging us to take her to a game for her birthday and I sure as hell am glad we did. In all honesty you could feel the vibe in the air after the 3rd inning. Kersh was just dominant. Dude next to me mentioned it to his buddy and his friend shushed him down. The Hanley error was so deflating at the time but did little to kill the feeling. I'd been to so many ballgames when I was kid and seen a lot of great performances from Dodger pitchers live. I don't know how many 1 hitters I saw Don Sutton pitch (yes I'm that old). I'll never forget the no-hitters I saw on the tube (Jerry Reuss at Candlestick and Nomo at Coors Field) but this one was just so freaking absolutely dominant. I gotta' believe last night was the beginning of something for us Dodger fans this year. Just so freakin' glad I was lucky enough to be there to witness it.
It's odd, but through teary eyes of joy as a Dodger fan forever and the happiness for CK, my eyes are drawn immediately to Rizzo's sweater meat.
Shit don't feel bad bro. I saw Johnny Antonelli beat Don Newcombe in Jersey City Roosevelt Stadium 1-0...Willie hit a HR into the light tower, and that was it.
This has to be 1 of the best "special moments" in Dodgers baseball history. Of course I was working but saw the end of the game on airside C. I cried ........I couldn't help it.....and realized that this might be the thing that gets the rest of this team rolling. This guy is a leader by example.......and if that doesn't light a fire under some asses, nothing will. I'm not even going to comment on the Hanley throw as this is CK's moment. Beautimus Blue Baby!!!......Yeah......
Food for thought on Hanley's error. If he had taken the time to plant himself properly and then make a clean throw to Adrian would it have been timely? I know it should have been, but I'm not completely certain. Dickerson was running ball's out to first and if had beaten a more accurate throw would it have then been scored a hit? Could be Hanley's errant throw saved the no-no? BTW, I'm as guilty as anyone else for hanging the "goat" sign around Hanley's neck for the loss of a perfecto, but we'll really never know now if it would've happened or not. Good news is that we're 4 out of first and Ms. Momentum is sitting in the Dodger dugout enjoying margarita's smoking a cig.
and to be fair... i first heard the quote from vinny, in '88 referring to orel catching and surpassing drysdale's scoreless inning record...
