The clinch is inevitable. More concerned about health and playing well.

Maybe this is too optimistic a view but I think it woulda been lame to clinch with this team out there

Mad respect to volquez, dee and chili but it'd want it to be done with some resemblance of a real lineup. Again, a very small thing that barely matters just I had visions of chili pouring champagne on Alex Castellanos as Ethier and Hanley are wheeled over somewhere else

I think the team is in a bad spell that they'll need to whack out of regardless. They got swept with thier best lineup and pitchers out there too. Injuries are bad but we're also losing pretty frequently anyways.

Some of it was probability of course. We played .800 baseball for a long time.

Getting guys back is step one of course. But lets not ignore step two..playing well and getting hot.

step two is the most difficult. timing and confidence don't just show up on arrival. i hate backing into the playoffs no matter how big the lead is
i'm really concerned about that part. no matter how hot we were.
the staff might be trying out different things and that could explain away some of the pitching issues.
but what to make of stupid decisions like pitching hunter "white hot" pence today with first open and two outs? that was one of the worst decisions dbb has made in a while and it was totally obvious. maybe the winning made it less obvious idk.
the timely hitting is just a distant memory as well. without the gonzo hit we are shut out. runners at third left w one out or less is unacceptable and the watching a veteran like skip strikeout over and over is getting old.
not panicking yet but as flat as we've been i would say the odds are as good as not that we get steamrolled by a hotter club.
unless we start playing w some swag and winning again.
lose the first one in az and i start to trip a little. lose the second and i start to trip a lot.
that being said i think i am going to head down to SD for fridays game. will leave early a.m. and spend the first part of the day further south. anyone who wants to check it out let me know. probably looking at driving back to LA after the game.

I think coming into the playoffs hot is kind of overrated too. Remember in '06 the Cardinals limped into the postseason and ended up wining the World Series. Once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen.

They're not playing good baseball right now, but half of our team is out with some sort of injury. I hate losing and was pissed after the game today, but I'm definitely not worrying about the recent performance of this team when it comes to October baseball. You hope and/or expect Hanley, Ethier, Puig, Crawford, and even Kemp ready to go at the end of the month.

The important thing is to be hot in the playoffs.

If we limp towards them and still play like this, we're toast. Our pitching can't save us when the offense, whether it's the A squad or the B squad, can't hit for shit.

If we suck for a few weeks and then turn it on again during the end of September, we'll be playing with confidence and we'll have momentum on our side. I really don't care about home field one way or another. Just win. That's all I give a fuck about. Win on the road, win at home, if for some reason we have to play at a neutral site because Los Angeles is eaten by a fucking Sarlacc from Star Wars, win there.

Just for once in my fucking life win the fucking World Series.

The Cardinals are the luckiest franchise in sports history.

ime the hot team usually rolls. over and over the better team gets crushed by the hot squad in bb.

While this is true, I still don't think we should panic. If our actual playoff team was playing like this, then it would warrant some concern. These lineups are A-Gon, sometimes Puig, and a bunch of scrubs.

I was at the game today. Disappointing to say the least. Volquez pitched well. Just two mistakes to Pence. Should have beaned him in the 6th with 1st base open rather than pitch to him; a little payback for yesterday and his 1st at bat today

We have two weeks to get it together

Well they got swept with their full squad and best pitchers too recently. Not that they aren't entitled to get swept on rare occasion, but they've hit a pretty decent linear stretch of underwhelming play. Some due to probability but it's still losing. They have 13 games to find the mojo.

I've seen this movie end the same way for over 20 years, as has everyone else. We haven't been to a game 6 of an NLCS in 25 years.

Players are dropping like flies as are games.

All those games could've went either way. All 1-run contests and the only guy we had hitting was Hanley. I love our chances if we get healthy.

This is probably the best Dodger team I've seen so far in my lifetime. '09 was pretty solid, but we have way better pitching and a better offense when it clicks.
