dodgers backing into the postseason...

 

Nationals lost, inching closer to that #1 seed in the NL which I really want. Over the AL, meh who cares, but in the NL I want #1.

 

If at the start of the season we were told thar with a dozen games left in the season we would be the team with the best record in baseball and a magic number of 1 game how would you feel about your team?

If you were told that at the deadline they added Yu Darvish and two of the best relievers on the team and a veteran OF with 25. HR simply for depth would you think the FO did a good job?

If then we heard that 4 fringe players we traded for came outta nowhere and gave us star level production?

What would we think if they also said that noy only would one of our rookies win ROY but he would be a superstar massive power hitting cleanup man from day one?

That Puig finally turned it around and became the Puig we always wanted him to be.
That our best incumbent star hitters finally learned to mash lefties. That they secured role players that hit lefties well. So well that our lineup vs lefties is no longer a lost cause.
That Austin Barnes would out produce the 20 HR hitting Grandal giving us a two headed beast at catcher?

How would you feel if we did that while having nearly half of our projected lineup/staff ineffective or injured but supplanted by rookies and trades that made us even better than if our regulars were playing at their expected levels?
And if now we had all those players available to fill out pinch hitter and middle reliever roles throughout the playoffs as needed?

The if at the end they asked you if ut matters to you how you got there more than the fact that you are on your way to blue heaven right now?

Then when you asked ... "Whats the catch?" were told all of the Dodgers sins one by one. Had how they had to struggle and overcome one of the worst and most uncanny losing streaks in the history of the game causing the team to back into the playoffs scraping off a few desperate wins to keep their hold on first place cause you to write this team off from having any chance to make it to a blue heaven world series and damning it to baseball fan hell where the players managers and executives are roasted and quartered like a peking duck over a slow smouldering ire?

counting down until we're eliminated
