Guillen may never be a long term solution as a manager, but 1 thing is certain..he can come in and get your players to shape the fuck up in the short term..ask Juan Uribe, who was a lifeless turd before he was managed by Ozzie.

people don't care for Ozzie's attitude and he rubs them the wrong way, so he doesn't last long, but he knows the game and he's a winner. what is Mattingly?..the only " all-time Yankee " that's a career loser...and he's ours. they rolled him in with Trojan Horse Torre and now he's ours...and all this team does is underachieve half the time.

I am so tired of the Giants owning us. It's hardly a rivalry if one team wins every time

    Way to go Kenley.
Way to pick up the team with some timely pitching after the zombie Hanley finally does something heroic. They actually did something exciting today. These "powerful Dodgers"...4 1/2 out now. Or is it 5 1/2? How soon do we go 42-8?
Then, got right back to being a crashing bore. man, this team is a yawn so far. I guess that's what sucking at this game does....
At least last year, when I guess we were about 7/8(?) games out about now, everybody was hurt or whatever. We really have no excuses other than we have no dependable closer , or BP at all, can't catch the baseball, can't knock a fucking run in, Butera is our best hope at catching (BTW, Donnie- the fucking Olivo experiment is over), etc.
Our BP can't throw strikes, walks a shitload of players, WP runs in...anything else? The Giants amke us their bitches, and we don't do a thing to change it. Our great victory is a blown save for that hunchback feo freakazoid Romo. Vin knows about his tat? Hmmm....
    Other than that, no probs.

you know what i love about this loss today?...the fact that Hanley now thinks he's on fire and is due to go 0-15 next series. over-swinging, being overly aggressive on the bases tryin to be Puigesque. pay the man and let him calm the fuck down or just trade him to the Yankees already.

they're not hurt enough injury-wise to pull that off + Punto, Schu, and Ellis are gone. no chance. best part of that run was the fact that they did a lot of it with little, gritty grinders filling in. the " all-star team " is healthy right now and everybody's swingin for the fences tryin to 1-up the next man.

I know it's still early enough to recover...but my God...this team is disappointing as fuck IMO.

This team reeks of the smelliest shit imaginable. Last year the slow start was due to injuries.....what's the excuse now?

And this was after Donnie dipshit had a closed door team meeting.

You know, in some ways, those three were the heart of this team last year. Puig the engine that got us going. Roy Hobbs, where are you? You'd think with a 230M payroll, this team would come off a little better than the worst or near worst in BP and fielding.
Pretty much a .500 plateau playing like we have been.
When injuries do start, what then if we are like this now?
There was a time, not so long ago, the thought of trading guys like Hanley, Kemp, Ethier, etc. would be preposterous. Now , if anyone (except CK, Greinke,Ryu, Puig) was dealt, I wouldn't bat an eyelash. Any pitcher other than those--sayonara. Not so imperative yet, but we can't take forever to start climbing back. It's not just the SFags, the Rox are as good as us right now, easily, IMO.
In fact, it might be the thing to do, to wake up these zombies that would be left. Of course, on any other team, any one of them would be player of the month immediately.
    It's, uh...a leadership thing maybe.
How does Bochey do it with his lineup, with two of his best hitters not there? Good bench and knows how to get the best from his guys, not the worst.
I bet they won't miss a beat without Belt...they'll just keep on keepin' on...Scutaro certainly hasn't hurt them.

    i think this is it
and something dbb hasn't figured out yet
in fairness, it'd be tough for anyone to get the attention/support of a roster full of prima donnas
oh sure, he's a "player's manager"... more like a fucken patsy
the lunatics clearly run this asylum
and if dbb does too much to upset the applecart, he could be gone
if he had a team with low expectations and a bunch of rooks/journeymen, i could see him doing pretty well
but it's tough to get guys like kemp/hanley/puig/ethier/crawford to listen to you
    idk, rambling...

i would add Dee and AGon to that list. AGon lives and breathes the game and is a good all around player/good baseball mind to have around..he's also fiery enough to tell a Wainwright to suck balls and i love that. AGon stays.

Dee has the right upbringing and mentors constantly around him keeping him on the straight and narrow...hard worker, loves the game. Dee stays. way too explosive to let go.

i'm actually OK with Uribe as well. he is who is at the plate..a hacker..i've learned to accept him.

everybody else can hit the pavement and i hate saying that about Hanley because really it's not his fault. his contract should've been handled in the offseason..that and the fact that he took a pitch off the hand is just making him press. but i mostly say it because i see it as a reality..Hanley could truly be a Yankee next year.

i feel good about Dee, AGon, Puig, Uribe, CK, Greinke, and Ryu. sooner than later we need Joc, Urias, Guerrero and maybe even Seager to join that group..and i don't want Mattingly anywhere near them

almost get the feeling that management didn't want him back regardless
of course they probably also thought guerrero would be ready/develop quicker
they're also going to want to bring seager up eventually

I admit, I forgot Dee....I've supported this kid from the get go, and he is coming to fruition.
This lasting slump is making me forget about Agon, too. I don't care if he goes.
It's six of one , half a dozen of the other. It's getting to the point watching everybody coming in and kicking the shit out of us, who cares any more?
And Haren is an old pro, but I don't think he'll be much more than a .500 pitcher for us. He needs a team that scores runs, and the "very powerful" Dodgers are simply not that team.

Dee gets forgotten a lot and i'm unsure where he'll play defensively going forward. he showed that he can handle the outfield in winter ball, i know that, so that gives us more options. whatever the case defensively, he's gotta lead off for us at the plate. Maury has done an EXCELLENT job with him.

you know what, man..Haren's had a career where he deserves to end it @ home as a Dodger. he's just a likeable guy..seems like CK like him as well. i'd be delighted to have him as our experienced #5 starter behind Urias when Urias eventually makes it up in a year or so. we don't have a lot of class righties and Haren's pitch selection gives us a bit of a change up. if he can stay on top of his game and just be decent he's alright with me. but what about this...what if the front office lets Hanley leave and they use a lot that money on Scherzer instead? they were ready to spend 140M on Tanaka while they had Hanley on the back-burner...why not give 160-170M to Scherzer and boast CK-Scherzer-Greinke-Ryu-Urias?

anyway, future-wise, i'm not worried about scoring runs..even though Joc hasn't historically done a lot of damage against lefties, this guy knows what an Show at bat looks like. has a great approach. i'd slot Joc 2nd, behind Dee, and in front Puig in the 3-hole in the future..AGon following Puig, Kemp following AGon, Seager following Kemp, Guerrero following Seager. they'll score some runs

Kemp, i still say could nab us a decent catcher. maybe Wieters. one Matt for another. then maybe a future lineup would look something like this; Dee-Joc-Puig-AGon-Wieters-Seager-SVS- Guerrero..preeeetty good pop all the way down
