I thought some other possible titles for the thread, but all could have been misleading. As Vin received an award last night by the Dennis Gilbert foundation, a couple of things came to my mind: 1. do the Dodgers need to win one more title for him? Even if they reach the WS, will they have Vin as part of the games? 2. Is he waiting for another WS title to retire? And the most scary: 3. Whats gonna happen when he retires or "goes away"? I think I've said this before, but it wasnt until 3 years ago that I got ro experience the magic of Vin's broadcasts. Being a fan outside of LA, I always depended on ESPN or someone else to broadcast the games, which didnt included the LA broadcast version. It wasnt until I started getting mlbtv and that kind of service that I got to listen to him, and the difference is huge. Now I just think on what will be of Dodgers baseball without him, and its a sad view. So, what you guys think of him and about our possible future without him.
Well if we make the playoffs, he will likely do the first and last 3 innings on the radio like he did in 08 and 09. Which would include the World Series. I think he'll be around a couple more years. Obviously it would be a great send off if we won a title for him. Hollywood script. To hear Vin call another title would be a trip. As for after his replacement when he leaves...all I can do is hope it isn't Eric Collins. Dude is way too much for TV. Move Collins to radio where his voice and diction would be more appreciated. Give the TV job to Steiner on the interim and conduct a search for a long term replacement. Al Michaels lives in LA and would be a softer blow but he still does his NBC gig and isn't young either.
we all need another championship and we all need vin to be a huge part of it it's been too long for all of us
Got one. Tis badass. Then some douchebags (NOT the Dodgers) tried suing him over it. Don't think anything came of it, though.
