Almost every time there is a play at the plate with the Dodgers, the opposition cuts the ball off and gets the trailing runner. This is a team wide issue that needs to be resolved.
Fairly sure sometimes they do that on purpose just so they cut the ball and the run can score forsure. But I agree it's pretty bad baseball
That's how your taught to do it from little league on up if there's going to be a play at the plate.the theory is scoring that run for certain is more important than the trailing runner.now I haven't scene near enough dodgers games to see if that's what they are doing but I doubt it considering the way tb has described it.the trailing runner is supposed to at least get into a rundown and not just give them the out at 2nd
Also,it may not be the players,it can be the first base coach...does it still happen to be davy lopes?
I thought you're taught to advance to second if the ball is going to miss the cutoff man? Not when it's directly at him.
That's also true.if there's going to be a play at the plate in a close game then giving up that out at second is less important then the run scoring so it puts the pressure and decision maker on the catcher and cutoff man.if the throw goes through then it should be a bang-bang 50/50 call.if it's cut then you score the run and are supposed to keep the defense pressured by getting in a run down,or of course if it'll be close at 2nd u go for the bag
if it gets the run home its sometimes worth it but a lot of times (i recall adrian doing it) the run would have scored regardless so it's pointless stupid
