I know what you are saying, but I can guarantee you that there are 20 organizations out there that wish that had the young BP talent we have.
the farm people are pretty good, they just do better in some spots than others. the infield is pretty pathetic record, but the likes of kemp, kershaw, billingsley, jansen are regulars 2 likely the best at their respective positions. you cant win them all. the giants suck ass with position guys but they have a factory for pitchers. good thing they are stupid and traded away wheeler.
Holy SHIT! I knew i was forgetting one of the Japanese superstar arms. He was my favorite too! Sorry Saito! So...there have been 4 succesful Japanese imports for the good guys in blue. 3 were HUGE! That's really badass. Nobody has had one Japanese import arm as good, let alone 3.
For shits and giggles lets say we never made the A-Gon trade. Kershaw-The best pitcher in baseball, not just LHP or NL. Bills-A well established #2, never will be a #1 but still damn good. RDLR-Best case is Ace, Worst Case is #2/3, most likely is borderline 1/2 or 2. Jansen-Premiere Closer Kemp-Top 3 player in MLB at worst when healthy. That is fucking awesome. Yes we lack depth but our cream is better than most if not all other teams.
Not really... it was a last chance option after years of him failing as a catcher.. they should had move him at least a year before... And all, please stop the sudden Bills love fest... the guy ALWAYS has 3 seasons in one... one part where he rolls and we get all pumped up, one where he sucks and we say "he comes him again" and a part where he's about average... My point here is that we havent developed as many impact players as other teams have...
The quantity might not be there but I'd say our quality is better. Bills love fest? I'm merely stating what I believe. He's a solid 2, I don't think I'm saying anything outrageous.
It is amazing how many people all of a sudden start loving Bills (bdk, not necessarily you)...ha, 6 good games and he is the shit. The rest of the time you just call him shit...smh....
I liked him pre-2008 nlds it should have been him that buzzed victorino in game 2 to send a message but instead he got passive and wouldn't pitch inside... and gave up 7 runs 2.1 innings and cost us the game -- and, arguably the series (although matt stairs might say otherwise) wasn't the same pitcher after that still, he had moments the last six starts he seemed to regain some of that fire and, OF COURSE, we're going to root for him again, it's our right as fans to criticize players when they're doing poorly and praise them when they do well I don't think our group here is any different than any other team's fan base
So they draft 40 players but only focus on 2 to be developed... Farm system and player development is something that needs to focus on quality AND quantity... what you say is basically saying "meh, most of them stink, but we were able to save 2 players"...
Second half of 09 he started to tank (for his talent level). He almost was left off of the playoff roster the same year he was an all-star. 2010 he was good but not great. Then 2011 comes around, inconsistency continues, and he couldn't figure it out again until after he came off the DL this year. Even Don and Rick, among others, agreed you couldn't call Bills our 2. His consistency level is baffling. It's when he ditched the cutter and started trusting his fastball he started to turn it around again and it's too bad we didn't get to see more of it. His command improved, and he was painting the black whenever he wanted to for those last several starts. BLF, I know you were probably confident as fuck about him through all of his struggles, but I can't blame anyone who wasn't. Bills has been a roller coaster. The frustration regarding Chad is a testament to how talented he is and how good people think he can be.
Sorry, but that's a ridiculous statement. He didn't fail as a catcher. He made the national team for the Netherlands in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He just didn't develop as a hitter. He hit .292 in the Rookie League in 2005, and quickly went downhill thereafter. But he was ALWAYS regarded for his arm and athleticism. There are many things scouts look for in a player. To presume you know better than them is sheer ignorance. That's because, with the exception of his last 6 games, he WAS shit. Criticizing fellow posters for calling like it isn't really fair
I don't care/mind personal dislike towards Bills cause of the playoffs (I believe it was overblown but that's an opinion) but I do dislike personal dislike getting in the way of what he has actually done, and what he has actually done is be a #2. Also, something that goes unnoticed with Bills is that he signed a team friendly contract which is a very awesome, team first thing to do but goes unnoticed in all the stuff ppl like to believe About his mentality Also, if you look at his starts this year, his best ones where in high pressure/hype games (reverse narrative )
I agree with a lot of this but I also agree with TB that chad's inconsistency is baffling and infuriating
