regarding mattingly... cruz is a perfect example of how/why he's a poor leader they guy's hitting under .100 yet continues to swing at the first pitch we were told mcgwire emphasized patience and plate discipline if that's true (which we have no reason to believe isn't) there's one of two problems... either mcgwire's not preaching it, or he is and the players aren't listening in either case, this falls on mattingly its his job to get on mcgwire and/or the players and make them follow through if they don't, they get disciplined simple as that and i don't care who it is, no one player is above the team's goal -- winning said it before, i'll say it again if this team (now 0.5 games ahead of the padres) falls into last place -- even for one day -- mattingly should be fired immediately yeah there's been unexpected injuries and such but there is no way this team should be playing this poorly
I'm all for making fun of the other team, but maybe mocking the other teams logo is bad "juju" for us. Maybe we should use their actual name in the game thread? If you feel me.
if I was the GM, here are the moves I would do for today's game: - Mark Ellis to DL, call Cap to start - Cruz DFA, call up SVS (move Bills to the 60 day DL) - Send Hairston to the DL, call up Puig (between Kemp and Ethier's slump, and CC need for days off, I'm sure they can find him some ABs at least 5 days a week - one day off for each OF plus 2 days of PH/defensive replacement for CC) if they dont want to call up SVS or Puig, then call Castellanos, but I dont see him as the best fit...
To top it all off, there's a depressing story on A-Gon at the LATimes saying himself that he's never going to hit the same after that shoulder surgery (Matt Kemp says hi).
Cahill is gonna shut us down (doesn't he always?) McCarthy has sucked ass this year so that means tomorrow he turns it around Miley vs. Kershaw, maybe kershaw hits a 3 run jack so we can win
