not only that, but think of the logic...the greatest pitcher in the game is doin pretty well...why shut him down? nobody is that damn stupid. the only way is if Kersh is gassed. everybody is an armchair manager from home, but Kersh threw 120 pitches in Game 1 and went on 3 days rest. it's not farfetched to think 90 pitches would get to him in Game 4...he was bouncing FASTBALLS.
actually, mattingly proved he was your support of him is admirable -- and i'm not being sarcastic but i think you may need to at least consider the possibility that the team won in spite of him, not because of him poor decision #1: he took out kersh too early and gave the ball to belisario, who immediately handed atlanta the lead poor decision #2: he tried to have uribe sacrifice -- even though puig, at 2b, was already in scoring position what if -- hypothetically -- uribe bunts poorly, and puig (again, already in scoring position) gets thrown out at third? rally over, game over and -- in all likelihood -- series and season over all the momentum would have swung to the braves in a game 7 at home and, oh yeah, our best pitcher wouldn't be able to go in an elimination game but thankfully we don't have to pay for donnie's imprudence/indiscretions... well, at least not yet
Because I'm done with Game Threads especially when the game is going so badly like last night's ...and Don Mattingly has completely lost his mind. I hate that he took Kershaw out after 6 innings/91 pitches. I hate that Don went to Belisario in a tie game. I hate that he makes Uribe bunt in that situation. I'm not anti sac bunt like most, but fuck there's times when it just kills our offense or the wrong guys are on deck or at the plate. I hate that Don continues to view Paco and Beli as high leverage guys, both are toast at this time. Thanks for getting us here Paco and Beli, now just watch from here on out. I hate that our offense seems to be retarded when any one of these factors are in play... -Kershaw starts the game -It is a clenching game.(remember how long it took us to put AZ away to clench the division title?) -Any pitcher that throws a fastball under 90 mph. -Any pitcher we haven't seen before like rookies. Let's celebrate!!! Thank god Uribe has turned the corner this season. Thank god Puig is here. Thank god Hanley is healthy again Thank god Crawford has awoken Thank god Brian Wilson is a fucking beast out of the pen. Thank god Kenley has handled the closer job better than I anticipated. Overall, I think I and probably most of us forget how good this team really is. We have pitching and power like we haven't had in years. this team is fun to root for because of how many exciting players we have and really how cool these guys are. We don't have assholes on this team...and we make waste of teams full of assholes like AZ and ATL.
http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=31110207&c_id=mlb&topic_id=vtp_nlds Yeah Don...we all want to know.
so just like pitching Kershaw was an organizational decision, it was also predetermined that he'd pitch 6 innings and call it a day. like i said...Kershaw did his job. our hitters did not for 8 innings ( other than CC ), 1 day after they scored 13. everybody agreed he was going 6 before the game.
That security guard in the background is all, "Damn, he's a great pitcher and he gets to tap that? Lucky bastard."
Thank you for clarifying that...as usual most here jumped the gun to call Donny out on it...including this time-myself.
