the exact conversation that they always have. and Mattingly then gets Baez throwing in the 7th before Kershaw gives up 1 hit.
Maddon to the Cubs fuckin sucks. terribly disappointed. a wasted opportunity to upgrade and now we'll have to deal with the Cubs in a few years. thanks, Friedman.
But you said he was coming to us, and how the every agent talks to us first. Damn it, back2back, what am I supposed to believe in if not you and your many confident as fuck posts?
there may be something to this maybe maddon doesn't want to deal with a bunch of self-serving egomaniacal bkitches i have nothing to back this up, but i feel like mattingly might be a pushover and that the lunatics [players] run the asylum hence the "player's manager" label
TBH, it would have been strange for us to go after Maddon after what Friedman said in his presser. Not just about being committed to Mattingly, but also about the front office being honest with where they stand on everyone.
good point and aside from that, would have looked like a corporate takeover where no one is safe could have caused disharmony in the clubhouse well, more disharmony
on the outside half of the plate..not off the plate. and hung in a major way. very hittable and hit well. if the pitch to Peralta tied him up, why did Peralta get the barrel of the bat on the ball? pop out? Lol like BleedBlue said..wrong and wrong
I don't know, the clubhouse seems like a tight-knit family that gets along... in a dsp family sort of way.
Cubs going to the World Series. Just like Back to the Future Part II predicted. Quick, switch Miami to the AL, or relocate the Rays to Miami.
i gotta admit..Cubs are a better look for Maddon. no World Series expectations/pressure, no split locker room, minimal egos to massage, building from within, loads of young talent coming up the pipeline, great city, proud/historical franchise, great money, great market for free agents..he still won.
Gonna have disagree on a point of order here. Aces do not walk the bases full. Even if they escape the situation, aces don't put themselves in that position. And that is one of the things that distinguish a "number 1" from an "ace".
maybe, maybe not. but that was a line drive and Hanley is your boy and really it's not his fault that Kershaw didn't have enough gas to get all the way in on Peralta. Kershaw's lucky that Peralta was early on the slider he hung in that same AB. Peralta smoked it.
Agree Agree, but screw the mixed signals. Mattingly and Kershaw BOTH know as professionals, in that situation you have to pull the pitcher at the first sign of trouble, certainly after the 3rd consecutive hit. You can't try to get by on reputation. (Of course, might not have made any difference with our ineffective pen, but the move needs to be made.) Surely Maddon is better, and known for innovation and playing the young guns. Still (and this is directed at the whole forum, not you) if we replaced Mattingly with Maddon and if he were to fail, you know as well as I that the posts in this forum would be to the tune of "Screw Maddon and his innovation, Mattingly would have played that one by the book" or "Why the fuck would Maddon pull out the best fucking pitcher in baseball and go to the pen with the season on the line". You know what I mean.
