OK ok I changed from a C to a B- for having the cajones to throw Crawford and his $35M contract farther than he can himself.
I think I'm coming around on Trayce too. Impressed with plate discipline. Still want to see how he adjusts if/when the league does. But no doubt the body of work is growing. If he keeps it up they need to settle on an OF position so he can stick with it and get comfortable defensively.
His numbers this year resemble last year's from his brief stint with the White Sox so hopefully this is the kind of player he'll be. Put him in left and hope his defense can improve.
still too early to tell but this year, so far, they get a c kaz was a good signing, but not for 3 years same w/mehcarthy (injured or healthy) for 4 years dumping guys like wilson (last year) and guerrero are positives, but we can't forget they're the ones that signed them to all that $$$ i applaud them for dumping carl, and don't ding them as much since it got us 4 productive years of agon but signing guys like arrubuena and olivera show they're not as diligent as they could be with the scouting so i'm sticking with c... for now
Kazmir has a player option after this season, if he keeps putting forth respectable outings he'll opt out and be gone anyhow. Will have served his purpose, bridging to JU and JDL
not so sure nerds [foolishly] backloaded his contract this year $12.7MM, next year $17.7MM, and $17.7MM in 2018 not sure anyone is going to top $35.2MM for 2 years
Maybe, maybe not the next 2 years, but he could lock in a longer commitment that runs him through age 36, grab another couple years and more than make up for it while he's still healthy and looks like a solid option. Better to play the market at 33 than 35, probably the thinking behind asking for the player option. Never put one past the Padres.
I agree with the grade for this year, but NedCo signed Wilson/Guerrero/Arruebuena, and the idea behind Kaz was that he'd pitch well enough to opt out at the end of the year with a weak SP class. Still time for that.
