If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

    Jeff Passan just now:
Sources: Dodgers have stepped up pursuit of a position player and are looking beyond Manny Machado. Have had conversations with Reds about Scooter Gennett, Twins about Brian Dozier and Mets about Asdrubal Cabrera. Dodgers’ versatility allows them to pursue a number of positions.

    Mike Berardino
"I'm told #Dodgers are indeed doing background work on Brian Dozier, among several other middle INFs. #Pirates 2B Josh Harrison is another name they've checked into, although he has 2 club options after this year. Rodney, Duke seem to interest them out of #mntwins pen."

NOOOO TO RODNEY!!! Dude is a choke artist

Scooter Gennet + a Reds reliever would be awesome. Asdrubal would be risky but fine if we land a good reliever with it... and I like Zach Duke a lot and think he'd be a great fit in the bullpen

Rodney scares me and although I have confidence that Dozier is gonna have a better 2nd half, tons of risk associated

I would not hate the backup plan if it included Scooter Gennett who has crushed home and away against lefties and righties.

Plus Gennett comes with an extra year of control, but that and Dozier/Duke are great with me. Cabrera, ehhhh..... Dozier always started slow and then turned it on when the weather heated up. My only worry with him is maybe he is tightening up in front of free agency. Gennett's, .297/.340 with RISP would be a nice addition to this team.

Looks like the focus is finding a 2B/SS going forward that can swing the stick, plus a reliever. Luckily there are some decent options out there that are improvements to this club.

Scooter could not beat out Villar with the Brewers and got cut before becoming the second coming of Chris Taylor.
And I want nothing to do with Dozier.
We don't need more of these types. We have guys like Toles and Verdugo that are ready to contribute and Puig is going to the pine.
If you want a new full time 2B then use Kike, or Muncy. Gennet is Muncy level defensively and Muncy is raking so?
If you gonna trade assets go for the big bat or the big arm.

As far as the INFs go, it's Gennett or Cabrera, then everybody else. I can't see paying anything of consequence and crossing my fingers that Dozier will catch fire.

Pass on Dozier. Why do we need another streaky bkitch? Yeah, he is an improvement over Logan, but so is 60 year-old Marquise Grissom. Get someone who can flat out rake. We don't need platoon players, .230 hitters who go on HR streaks, guys who K and rarely walk, etc. We have that already. Try to actually add another dimension to the lineup or just roll with what we have.

If the Yankees get Machado they'll become The Empire State Warriors.

The Yankees are 2.5 back and you guys talk about them like they’re the greatest team ever. They shouldn’t and won’t trade Torres for Machado, and I’d be surprised if they’d move Andujar but that’s the most logical main piece

    ...and he battle rages on.
Will the August first version of the LAD be a modified model, bristling with weapons, or a diluted form of expectations over all?
Will the high command use the ME -262 in time, or will it run out in the face of the oppostions?
    We shall see.

JP Morosi was just on MLB Network and threw out a hypothetical Dozier for Mitchell White deal, that's a big NO for me, exactly the kind of deal I was talking about not making.

Who besides Darth is saying they'd be the greatest team ever? Machado would definitely make them a dangerous team(and a nightmare matchup for our staff), but the biggest problem for them is that their rotation is still pretty weak. I don't think they are going to do what it takes to get him, but they definitely have the means to land Machado if they really wanted. I think the only way they get him is they say to themselves that they are not going to get beat out by anybody else to retain him in the offseason and are willing to move Andujar. With that said, seems like their efforts would be better suited to try and land someone for their rotation.

Was just thinking the other day how the original Dozier deal didn't go through due to the Dodgers refusing to part with JDL AND Brock Stewart. Fucking suckis now in hindsight, but if they make that deal, do we ever see Chris Taylor?...

Max Muncy isn’t our new white overlord.

Every year we need to find a new white guy and trade our old white guy elsewhere.

The Rays have announced the plans for their new potential stadium in Ybor city. It would be really fucking small with a max capacity of 30K and regular capacity just over 28K. This would be the smallest ballpark in the game by 5K seats maxed out. It would be a fixed glass dome and doors that would open like the D'Backs ballpark. I have been a big fan of the Rays getting a new stadium, but this thing has some red flags for me. A. That small capacity, and B. The fixed roof, both these things make me think this stadium would be a band-aid and they are trying to stay cheap.

    https://www.mlb.com/rays/fans/ballpark-reimagined?partnerId=sf90361730&sf90361730=1

Update: Welp, they are going to ask the town to pony up somewhere in excess of $600M... so that's probably not going to happen.

Update 2: Oh god, it would have astroturf... fuck this plan.

The rumors today are that the Dodgers are all over the map in their search for an upgrade at 2B and in the relief department. Sounds like they are going to be pretty active at the deadline.

Wow, an ME 262 reference. You know though, that would have tipped the balance to the Nazis if introduced earlier.....not sure I like that analogy with the Bums.
