I voted pitcher. But then I remembered that MLB likes to remove the baseball stitches in the postseason so they get 13-12 “classics”. So bring on as manny bats as we can get.

Also, I expect us to be in the running to sign Machado in the offseason, and it never hurts to get more familiar with him before investing $200 million.

tbh i wouldn't be surprised if come aug 1 machado is still an oriole
    duquette always overvalues his prospects/players
and angelos is a fucken tool who's (proven) capable of taking anyone off the table without warning

Haha, that’s fair, although Darvish/Morrow both strongly considered LA even though they offered much less money and Greinke was always clear of his intentions to go to the highest bidder

    I know...those qualifiers count, big time.Lol.
I just don't really believe the LAD are that much of a Nirvana for players...
Sure, it's not the Twins or some lesser burg, but most players want to be on a winner before the spikes are hung up...like Arenado lamented most recently, and can you actually blame them?
The Dodgers just do not fill the bill of the big winner.

    Yes.
More likely derived from something similar to Mash/Smash. Great for a power hitter. Ultimately it's not ax but a hammer.
Martel, Marcel, Mattock, Masher, Marduk, Mars, Marcus, Mallet = Hammer or hammer wielding warrior.
But in the past a hammer, a knife, a sword, and an axe were all the same weapon/tool. A man always carried a working tool. Working being another term for machining something. In the Bible, there are verses that speak of people hewing stone (stonecutting and forming into block) using their sword. Which tells me that the sword of the Hebrew was more like a multitool pickaxe/mattock/adze.

The word "macho" in Spanish is used a lot for the business end of a tool. Mostly a tool that provides a hammering effect like a tap drill.
In fact, it is used the same as the word "machine". A machine is a tool that amplifies your power to smash things.
From smashing iron on an anvil with a hammer to smashing carbon in an engine to smashing carbon in a collider.
So his name in a way means "Machined" Or that he is a "machiner", a power tool to hammer drill something.
That is why guys are called Macho. It means tough in the way that they can chew you up and spit you out.

Rosenthal reporting that the Yankees have turned up the jets in the Machado sweepstakes and the Orioles are willing to move him to a division rival, but prefer an NL team. Honestly, if they really want him, he's probably there's as they have some really good young bats that they can afford to move if the plan is to resign Manny.

Thought Steinbrenner was adamant about staying under tax or was it just us? Fucking reporters driving the price up for the sake of a story!

They would probably send more prospects to have the O's cover him as they badly need pitching too.

I have to think they would want a fortune to trade him in the division.
