Don't think it was him trying to nudge the Dodgers into giving more since I am sure nobody listens to that shit. I honestly think the Diamondbacks see a window that could be closing soon (Pollock and Corbin probably leaving at the end of the year, 1 yr left of Goldy and a shitty farm) so they could be putting all their chips into the middle. Try and win one last time and then start to sell off and get regroup to be good again in time to open the new stadium.

Wow, I had no idea that it went down like that. They just painted downtown Denver as an abandoned cesspool until we were saved by MLB and built Coors Field(I moved to CO the year the Rockies moved into CF). I feel bad that it had such a negative impact on many, but that stadium also helped revitalize an entire downtown that is now the center of one of the strongest growing cities in the country.

I honestly think that Will Smith is who they are peddling as the centerpiece of the trade. Just from what JD said earlier and yeah this when you deal from a position of strength and that is currently what the Dodgers have at the catching position.

I was pretty fascinated by the Walt Disney thing when I first read about it. I'm also not surprised by what has happened with the land grabs here with this states shady background.

We have had 10+% appreciation each of the last 4-5 years that they keep predicting it to go down, but never does. This year they said it would be 6% and we are looking at 9% right now. It is definitely hurting the young people in the cities, but they keep showing up and companies keep coming in droves. The sprawl is in full form with the young people becoming young families and moving, plus the rental rates have started to level off with so many apartment buildings popping up. I live in Erie, a town that was a total joke when I was in HS, but now it is one of the hottest cities in the state. Close to Denver, Boulder, your airport and not a bad drive to FortCo. It has been pretty wild to watch.

 

So this stadium plan has gone over very very poorly. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but that thing is a fucking atrocity.

I’m not 100% sure what the full story is. Apparently the D’Backs want more control of the stadium and for it to get some hefty upgrades. Though I think there was sparring over previous funds as well. After everything was said and done, they finally said that they just want to move to a new location. Truthfully, I think TB and AZ should move. Send the Rays to Montreal, the D’Backs to Portland and then add 2 expansion teams and get the league to 32.
