Yeah, I'd trade Puig too, for the right deal, that's why I said I don't disagree. We do have the ability to rebuild or switch and replace, and we are demonstrating that almost daily this year. Going forward, our strong prospects will only strengthen that ability. I get that AGon is aging and well, so what. Deal him. Get a new 'best hitter'. The Championship does not hang on his shoulders. It would be nice if it happened while he's here, but if not...oh well. The core of the team? Hanley and Kemp were the core once. Uribe is gone. Pull the plug on this core? Ok, I don't have a problem with that because there is a new core right behind the old core. And the cores keep getting stronger as we go. I think a lot of your anxiety is born from the 'win now' mind set and that ok and understandable. But the GG's are building this system for the long haul. Not for one championship, but for multiple championships. I can see that plan forming. And I can wait a bit longer.

We are one Starting Ace away from being the favorite to win the WS. How does trading Puig factor into this?

If the targeted package is Price and Cespedes, Puig could factor in. I think they've proven that they can score a ton without Puig and/or make a post season run with him struggling. You shuffle the lineup and drop a potent, clutch, right handed, RISP/RBI savant like Cespedes into the middle of a lot of lefty firepower and what he brings could be a key ingredient going forward.

Zaidi, Friedman and company are big on finding value...you don't have to look too far to find Cespedes' value. The A's missed him big time after the big BOS/OAK trade.

If they trade Puig we need more than just an arm in return...I don't give a damn who's arm it is. I'm like Mark Walter in that I trust these pitchers about as far as I can throw their asses. Lol

I'll do you one better and highlight the part where you got lost -

Check his career splits with RISP, high leverage/clutch hitting here - http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=cespeyo01&year=Career&t=b

Yeah I was looking there too and its all in how you look at it.

    2 out RISP - .290 BA = good; 2015 - .275 = average
    High Leverage - .313 = very good; 2015 - .306 = very good
    Medium Leverage - .288 = good; 2015 - .309 = very good
    Tie game - .296 = good; 2015 - .309 = very good

    OTOH

    Men on 1st - .264 = meh
    Men on 2nd - .237 = ouch
Men on 3rd - .400 = very good (land of sac flies)
    0 outs - .256 = meh
    1 out - .288 = good
    2 outs - .260 = meh

Overall he's good to very good but savant?? Not close

You forgot to include these career numbers -

    Men on 1B and 2B - .301/.331/.532
    Men on 1B and 3B - .309/.353/.502
    Men on 2B and 3B - .429/.526/.714
    Bases loaded - .444/.429/.667

And so on and so forth.

Ultimately, you can see that he is a different hitter with men on base, RISP, and in tight games. Call it what you like since savant bothers you.

He can be a better team mate by actually living up to the hype.

I heard that Molly knight girl on Rome yesterday and she basically said as much. A year or two ago these guys could care less how he was acting since he was raking. Now he isn't as good so his antics now bother them. Comes with the territory I guess

I would bat Puig lead off and move Joc down to 6 or 7 in the order. Puig has a career 913 OPS with a 301 average and 386 OBP in the lead off spot. Small sample size of course, but I think it'd help him and Joc.

I truly hope that Joc is 'helpable' (?)...all this BS about he's an "all or nothing guy" and they shouldn't do anything about his approach is a poor way to go at this talented kid. Good for HR numbers and the stupid HR Derby and shit, but he could be so much more as a hitter , IMO. Even if it costs maybe some HRs. I wonder if he breaks the rookie K record this year?
That RBI single through the right side the other day was simply beautiful, and I truly believe he can't be taught just making "contact" by big Mac.
He needs off season lessons from a real batsmith. Or somebody in the LAD organization I can't think of....if there is anyone.
If he can't handle a different approach with two strikes, then I guess he's a dolt.
Which I don't believe at all.
I think he's be better for the team making 2 strike contact and the percentage of hits that would come, than a tape measure HR with 40+ games in between shots.

Striking out three times a game and misplaying balls in the OF doesn't seem fine to me.

So long as the defenses lapses are few, he's fine. He's the only real CF we have, so he ain goin anywhere. All the shit that's going with him right now...believe it or not...projected stuff.
