You make it seem like LAD has to make a run at Gray or land him.
I'll tell you right now..Houston is looking for somebody, anybody they can dress up as a 1 and Gray's a name..but the game has changed.
And Houston has been hot for a lead dog for a while now, so I don't see LAD outbidding them.
Some shit would have to happen where maybe Beane doesn't wanna help Houston.
Before LAD moves Alvarez, more work is needed with him, refinement and polishing..then see what his value is, go out and hook a real one.
Too much potential in Alvarez and LAD is doing too well as an org with it's specs to think he won't be a bigger chip later ( big as he is now)

I am torn. I am sure I am going to be pissed at how little the DBacks gave up to get Martinez. On the other hand, Martinez was lifted from last nights game with lower back tightness........I don't want another one of those.

So all will be better when it is announced that MGT has traded for Cutch.

The reason you're using Alvarez is because you know, and I know, that his upside is greater than the rest of those guys and you're banking on that upside/value meaning the world to Beane.
I know how much depth LAD has, I'm in tune with the farm.
But moving Alvarez right now is short game stuff, he's going to be better and be a bigger chip later.
Anyway, CKWG just said he's heard Alvarez is untouchable..which I thought was always the case, but same destination

 

The difference is those pitcher's I mentioned is that they are pitching better than Alvarez and some at higher levels.

 

The two teams that made the Series a year ago traded top prospects for key pieces.

Hoarding prospects (and I'm referencing Alvarez) doesn't guarantee a thing.

 

That's a strong lineup in Arizona.
But that OF defense in the corners is gonna be atrocious with Martinez and Tomas. Lol
Still, if AZ can bring Martinez back after this year SFG is gonna cry themselves to sleep because they will be firmly behind AZ moving forward

WOW, just red who Det got in return for Martinez. Not one in BA's top 100 midseason prospects. DBacks had one - LHP Anthony Banda. According to MLB.com rankings they got the #4 rated prospect(Lugo), #15 rated prospect (Alacantra), and one that is not even rated (King). Well, now we know that MGT was not really interested in Martinez, cuz they could have beat that haul by a mile.

However, you already know one team operating one way doesn't mean everybody lines up to do the same.
Cubs/CLE needed closers bad..we don't.

Well it would make sense for them to ask for an exorbitant price from the best team in MLB. Im sure the nerds would do the same if the roles were reversed.

 

I thought someone posted that Det was going to make multiple trades soon??? Was that from Rosenthal's twitter?

If so since Wilson was not in this trade, hopefully MGT is in on that one.
