They've said that for the past 2 seasons but until Ilich passed away they've been notorious for not admitting that they are re-building. This is the 1st sign that they FINALLY are going to admit they are out of it.

Rosenthal reporting that Angelos the O's owner has given their GM permission to trade. Have to look at the O's roster. :D

....and maybe now that Ilitch has met Caesar, they're gonna try and offload $$$ and put the team on the block, based on what the Marlins bring?

Ya know, greedy AF heirs and all that kinda stuff?

Any chance we might get a Stroman or Osuna from the Bluejays?

Todd Frazier pulled from line-up. Sawks probably have traded for him.

What if the Astros jumped on Frazier with Correa down? Lol
Move Bregman back to SS and go Frazier @ 3B? Woo
Probably not, but that'd be interesting

It's entirely possible Beane could value a couple lower-ceiling higher-floor pitchers in our system. The A's have a knack of turning mediocre white guys into decent pitchers who feast on that division and in that ballpark (Enter Sonny Gray).

I'm not over-the-moon for Gray, but as of now he's the best SP on the market. I think we should wait a week and see what else surfaces before making a move, but if he remains the top guy I like the idea of us going after him. He would give us a solid guy to slot into our top 4 for the postseason, and it leaves McCarthy as a contingency plan in case of an injury.

It doesn't have to be Gray. It doesn't have to cost Alvarez. But man, anything short of a championship this year will be a failure, so standing pat (even with the best roster in the majors) is a bit of a risk.

I like Alvarez because the FO loves him but not to show improvement in single A??? We all thought JDL was a big time spec and he hasn't been a factor to date. Have to win it all like mouse and I and the entire board is saying but you can't go big time without giving up big time. Again he's not a 33 year old he's 27!!! The NL is an easier league to pitch in and that is irrefutable and if he's available and it'll cost a spec not named Buehler or Alex why the fuck not.

Is Gray the best on the market tho?
Jays have discussed Stroman and the Rangers are listening on Darvish, just a couple off the top of my head.
Gerrit Cole hasn't been as good as Gray, but would still be an intriguing young option and a competitor for a slot behind CK/Wood as would a youngster like Dylan Bundy, I put Cole/Bundy/Verlander in the same group as intriguing options.
But yeah, I wasn't saying LAD should stand pat..just to make a smart deal.
Brewers have been the most aggressive regarding Gray and their farm is very strong..between them and the Astros, and those 2 farm systems, LAD should just see their way out as Gray is probably about to be overpriced.
May be where the leak that Alvarez is considered untouchable came from, Beane one of a few trying to extract Alvarez.
Still some options for those slots behind CK and Wood, lesser known guys and some that haven't been mentioned and are flying below the radar as always.
We hardly ever see LAD and STL connect on deals, but what if they wave the white flag..they're reportedly listening to offers on Lance Lynn.

Well to be fair this is a forum, a place to share ideas and opinions. Not to try and change others opinions and ideas.
If minds on their own through the examples you state are changed.. then that is entirely different :D

Stances and opinions change all the time on here. Remember when Yasiel was the brunt of the majority of opinions and yet those are changing. It's a God given right to change our minds man!! :D:D

I know, which is why I said what I said in my last sentence.
I will never change your mind. Only God can change your mind.
All I can do is make a good argument to help till the soil so God can plant the good seed.

So it's the Yankees who are in on Frazier and now it has expanded to Robertson and a guy named Kahnle.
