well, like irish mentioned earlier..has Puig ever thrown teammates under the bus like Harper did? i mean has Puig ever tried to manage the Dodgers? but on a broader scale regarding this topic..you don't have to hate Harper to feel like the Dodgers might pass on him. there are enough legitmate reasons to be skeptical of that idea without adding emotion to the mix.

for 1), even if Harper and Puig were on the same douche level, that doesn't mean you wanna go out and put them on the same team and throw them into the same clubhouse. we all know that there's more to building a team than just amassing the most talent.

and 2), the LAD clubhouse could be adding 2 of our Top 3 prospects this season..how is it just some guarantee that Kasten/Friedman and company would want to put Harper in a clubhouse with a young Joc/Seager? they just did all they could to reboot the culture of the team ( with 1 more move left..booting Ethier) to get the environment in order for their " Jeter(s) ".

and then 3), Harper's crazy injury prone for a young guy..missing more and more games as every season passes. there isn't even a durable past to make you think he can pull it together physically going forward. IMO, Harper needs to stay right where he is..glad he got his 2yr deal earlier today.

    i don't hate harper
but i do think he's a fucken douche
    however...
i think back to when i was 22...
    i was a douche
and i think most at that age are (except for you guys:kissass:)
and i never said that i, personally, wouldn't take him
i was just throwing it out there since the purported clubhouse issues of kemp and hanley surfaced
fwiw, i didn't hate them either
from a baseball standpoint, you absolutely take him
i have no idea how our front office would look at it, that's all i was saying

    1) sure, but from what I've seen in the media everyone believed he'd blow up like Trout did... and noone really expected what they got out of Trout. He was advanced for his age and now he can mature in a better baseball player.

    2) because he's a generational talent. There's something you seem to not understand here. Harper has more raw talent than anyone on the Dodgers, Kershaw included, Puig included. To pass on someone like that is ridiculous. However, to pass on a package of talent going back to WAS is a different story. Say like Kershaw/Puig/Seager... now that's stupid. but a package of prospects? Sure

    3) He plays the game hard and gets hurt. Puig does the same shit and has been lucky to not seriously hurt himself. If health is the only reason to not take a 22 yr old generational talent, go ahead and don't take him so I can have him

i'm not down on his talent.

Puig gets the Bo Jackson comparisons..not Harper. and you can have as much raw talent as you like..it really won't matter if you're missing more and more games as every season passes. i don't know how you send a load of top prospects for a double-edged sword with both character and health issues. that's too much of a gamble when you can look at the last 3 WS matchups ( and probably more) and find no player with more raw talent than Harper on those teams.

if they want to, the Dodgers can buy whomever they want in any given year without taking that kind of gamble.

Puig hasn't been lucky..Puig is a freak. Puig, if he had grown up in the US, probably wouldn't even be playing baseball right now. he's built like Lawrence Taylor. his level of overall athleticism/athletic strength is unmatched. he probably would've led the SEC in tackles, or rushing yards, the last 3 years if he were raised here.

I would have traded Puig before I would have traded Kemp.

He's had three full seasons in the bigs. When does the maturation process begin?

Baseball Maturation =/= age or # of years in the big leagues

Maturation in general doesn't correlate with just age. an 18 yr old can be more physically and emotionally mature than a 25 yr old.

Just like someone who's had three yrs in the big leagues... it doesn't mean he should have it all figured out. It may take years more.
