Im a bit leery..........all the people that are excited about this move are saying "he has been great in his last 30 ish inning with something like a 2 something era". Yeah the last pitcher that everyone said that about just got DFAed by the WhiteSox........
Agree that they need to go out and get a reliable #2 starter. Tired of counting on McCarthy and especially Ryu.
Man, I'm really worried about Kershaw's herniated disk. I had that issue before, and I had constant aggravating lower back pain and sciatica on my left side. Tried rehab. Had two steroid injections. Then finally opted for surgery. The post surgical recovery was painful, and my back is still not 100%. The pain is gone, but my back will never be the same, and there are episodes of real soreness. I hope he can just rehab it.
Urias will not be in the rotation for much longer. Probably getting bounced to the bullpen in the 2nd half of the season.
Yeah we need a reliable #2 but what do we really have to give up in return? All of our top prospects are for the most part not tradable. Seager and Urias are all but untouchable (I could see them being traded for Fernandez or Trout). Deleon is coming back from injury. Montas is injured. We actually need Bellanger. The only realistic trade chips we have now are Grant Holmes and Alex Verdugo. I doubt that gets anything close to a #2.
Wood will be lucky to be back at the beginning of August. He hasn't even started throwing. I think Ryu will take Urias spot
They both have not been spectacular. I suspect that they are focusing on getting the pitch count up and stretching out the arms over worrying about their ERA.
I don't think they really take that too seriously, at least in the initial rehab outings. The last one or two before completing the assignment may have more merit though.
The problem with keeping Urias in the rotation is he has never gone more than 90 innings in a year. They gots shut him down at some point around say 120 or they risk scrwing his arm. I think MGT screwed up by limiting his innings last year. They should have pushed him to 100 or 120 last year to set him up for 150 ish this year.
Not really worried about the results as much as Ryu is throwing 86-89 MPH... blah blah blah he says he's saving his arm, well um let's see it before we we put you out there in a pennant race?
