Wouldn't be surprised if Chase is at least related to Chuck Norris. Talk about an american hero, Utley is theeeeeerrrrrrreeeeeeeeee, G.I. Chaaaase
I'm not really known for optimism, but I figure as shitty as this offense has been that there is bound to be a turnaround in it at some point. I mean, every one can't all suck at the same time forever. Eventually a few guys have to break through...maybe it will be contagious.
Yes, a long time losing organization must maintain it's squeaky clean aura...especially, one that has turned a classic statement into a NASCAR jumpsuit ( TB cred on that), raised prices on everything they could I read, and fans who simply can't watch their team that they have supported wonderfully for years. This is class? To use a suspended player as an example of the" kind they don't want representing them" is hipocrisy at the highest level. Phony bullshit. Who's kidding who here? If Montas is plan B, then please come together before we get buried too deeply.
I know people are saying Montas could be a reinforcement in the bullpen, but IIRC after the trade weren't people talking about his command being an issue? Regardless, Baez has to go. He's consistently mediocre or bad.
Stop comparing a drug suspension like 3 years ago to domestic violence. Not to mention I'm pretty sure Grandal took full responsibility for it and nothing has happened since then. When they asked Chapman about it, he goes "I did nothing wrong".
Basically agree with you on the comparisons, although when he took the roids means absolutely zero. It isn't minimized because it is three years ago. And to some, Chapman, since no criminal charges were filed,"didn't do anything wrong". Now we all know baseball is seperate and apart from the law, but a different criteria exists in his mind. Different culture. All the excuses for poor Puig's behaviours ( lots of em here) should help explain Chapman's seemingly defiant response of not guilty. The law investogated and found nothing illegal evidently. The point is, instead of running away from an extremely talented player ( who could have made a tremendous difference for us on the field ) helping him and perhaps even starting a MLB wide program for all young players as part of their indoctrination to the game and the informing proper behavior criteria might have been the thing to do. Never shirked away from innovation before...Are we the Dodgers or a bunch of bullshit finooky wusses? If a guy had an alcohol problem, what would they do? Let him flounder, or help him?
We all know "the law" is a joke; especially if you're a rich athlete. Nothing legally happened to Jose Reyes, even though he pretty much admitted to choking his wife against a glass door. Nothing happened legally to Ray Rice, even though there was actual video evidence. Same goes for Greg Hardy and others. That excuse is one that's not going to fly with me. I don't know if the Dodgers are finooks or not, but obviously they didn't want this guy on the team. Plus, I'm pretty sure Puig has run his course around here. Hit .300+ with power and the act is cool, like we talked about last week. Hit .240 with a .270 OBP and it gets stale.
Can't argue with your logic, and not inclined to. The Puig thing however, if a statement about perhaps the more shallow amongst us, is not quite true for everyone. I for one, found Puig more of an idiot then, than I do now. However, I am a fine upstanding citizen, so what can you expect? Lol. I don't know about the law being a joke...maybe it is in defining your descriptions. I do know that laws are for the law abiding...only. I just think the Dodgers had a shot for a very good player and to be at the forefront of inspired baseball leadership again, as they have beenmany times from Jackie forward.
Maybe its true, what I thought, that the team is owned by Mainline Philly guys and they just didnt want a DV perp on the payroll. I have a very close friend who's a Philly blue blood, who also just so happens to be close friends with a Guggenheim, and in knowing his mindset and what he's related to me about the overall attitude in that social circle, it wouldnt surprise me if that's the reason the deal didn't go down.
Allrighty then. I guess I was thinking about something that's long gone from the Dodger organization. We have plan B.
Just spiffballin here.... Grasping to understand why they'd cut and run from the ONE THING that would have made the THE MOST sense for the BP.
You guys still on steroids. Still on dudes and their wives. Still on chapman non trade. Still on puigs antics from 3 years ago. Darryl strawberry amd eric davis coke parties say hello. Btw both were personal favorite players when they werent dodgers. But fred claire brought in coked out players all the time. There has never been a time when the team or the sport or your country was pure... Other than in your nostalgia filled dreams.
I know it was a routine play, but Gonzo throws as well as any 1B I've ever seen. Certainly the best Dodger 1B I've seen.
