I guess they missed the part where the Nats were shutout. If you get shutout it doesn't matter who was pitching.
Oddly, there aren't a lot of NL SS's who stand out this year. Brandon Crawford is the most likely to win GG, but he's having a down year. Everyone else, Corey Seager measures up against. Story leads NL SS's in dWAR, so he's a possible candidate too. Seager's stats are incredibly average, but they rank as good in a weak defensive class. Mouse final analysis: If Corey Seager doesn't win a GG this year, then he will never win a GG at SS.
Get used to Granderson in there...for reasons that are known to everyone. And Joc, while he's on the roster, is going to play once in a while. So is Baez. These things are Dodger baseball, through and through. At least the joy of watching another ofer game from Ya$ has been snatched away from our consciousness for a day. My mother used to say " thank God for small mercies"...indeed.
A-Rod: "The Dodgers are still have the best record in MLB. They have the best bullpen ERA and lead the league in strikeouts. The problem has been the offense, but that will be addressed with Bellinger and Seager back in the lineup. Favorites in the NL" I've always liked A-Rod since he took Ryan Dumpster deep after getting drilled on purpose.
I'm not saying this cause of that comment, but he's honestly a really good analyst. He's pretty rational in his thought process and does a good job breaking down the game.
Roberts said Barnes is starting tomorrow, so he's pretty much the starting catcher moving forward. And with Utley starting back to back against righties, looks like Forsythe is the backup 2B. LF is the one that is still up for grabs between Joc, Granderson, and Ethier. Ethier might have the best bat at the moment, but he's the most fragile and who knows if he can play every day. Joc has the best defense and the most upside, but hasn't shown any of that upside in a long time. Granderson is the trickiest one to figure out: He's been really good not too long ago but is in a Josh Reddick like slump. Does he turn it around soon or is this just who he is
good at bat by Granderson. Even if he isn't making good contact, he's still having a good process on his at bats. It's the bad contact that's a problem, which is obviously a big problem haha.
