Gammons spoke with an AGM who thinks the Dodgers could be players if(when) the Rays put Price up for auction at the end of the season. The price according to this guy would be EXTREMELY high and would gut the Dodgers farm that the FO has worked so hard the past 1+ seasons to rebuild. Naturally this is just someones speculation, but the next day another writer(can't find it) said that they had heard from an inside source that the Dodgers were already planning to pursue Price.

I'm against the AGM's deal(Seager, Pederson, Urias and Withrow), but would love the idea of a sub 30 front 3 of Kershaw, Greinke and Price. If management is really interested in putting a deal like this together, this would show just how serious these guys are about winning now and that they don't give a shit about money as Price and Kershaw are FA's at the same time and would likely cost well over 300 million between the two of them.

So, what does everyone think about this.

P.S. I know this is the playoffs, but since this is currently circulating I thought I should post this. If I missed this topic anywhere else, let me know and I will delete this.

The Dodgers have some age on the team, and guys like Seager Urias and Pederson are the future. It's what BB is all about , IMO, in some traditional respect... bring the kids up through the system and having them around in the future as your core.
Sure, it would be nice to have Price, no doubt, but when Bills comes back, if he does, we can be the best rotation in BB without Price, and not trade away so much talent by getting another "good" pitcher. I thought Nolasco was that kind of answer, a guy like that level, but he has hit the wall head-on and is a crash test dummy lately.
I mean CK, Greinke, Ryu, Bills and Beckett or No last ho is a pretty good well to draw from. That's without the AA/AAA guys either.

If that is the price, I don't see the club even considering a deal. The only thing I could see happening is a 3 or even 4 team deal where the Dodgers take on a bad contract from someone in exchange that they send out a solid prospect and/or the Dodgers move one of the OF 4 in some uber complicated deal. Just doesn't seem likely.

I wouldn't do this for a number of reasons.

How many good young power hitting 3B are there in the league? Donaldson, Seager's brother, machado, longoria... Did I miss one? Point is finding that quality of a 3B is much harder than finding an elite SP.

Plus we know Tampa doesn't have the money to resign a guy like Price which is why they're wanting to deal now. If he doesn't sign an extension with his new team he will be a FA and cost nothing in terms of prospects.

Don't get me wrong guys like Price don't come along everyday but the likelihood of signing or drafting a front line starter are greater than an elite 3B.

    if i'm ownership i offer to pay half of Kemp's deal and offer him up to Tampa. then i look to send Ethier to the Mets or somebody that can afford him for a couple minor league arms. THEN i offer Cano 150M over 5yrs and handle Kersh, Hanley, and Price next offseason. next year's lineup would look like this;

    L CC LF
    R Puig RF
    L Cano 2B
    R Hanley SS
    L AGon 1B
    R Uribe 3B
    L Joc P. CF
    L/R McCann/AJ

    L Kershaw
    R Greinke
    L Price
    R Nolasco
    L Ryu

left-right-left-right all the way down to the rotation. game over.

After all that shit happened with McCann this year, I'd rather not see him in blue.

Plus, what is up with everyone wanting to trade Ethier/Kemp? Does anyone realize they're the last genuine Dodger stars left with Kershaw?

Pedro said something interesting after the StL/Pitt game....he said, " it's not about Nolasco, it's about the team is hot and in LA, and taking it in LA with the best pitcher in BB is not altogether crazy". (Although I do suspect Nolast ho's intense suckitude does have a bit to do with it...remember Withrow instead of Belisario? Don't f0rget-DBB is a JoTo clone....and we all know how JoTo treated slumping pitchers, right? And the ones he liked he just flat out blew their arms out). Asi es la vida....
Actually if we do win it toniight, then Greinke could start the NLCS and Kershaw the 2nd game, on full rest. I don't see that as a terrible thing.
However, the fact that he threw 124 pitches first game out was also mentioned.
I'm thinking Kersh is a big horse, capable of doing this.
    Y'know....War Horse...

Just can't picture any scenario where the Dodgers move Kemp in the off season. They'd be selling at an all time low in value for him and the return would be minimal. It is the same thing as Uribe coming into this past Spring, tons of fans didn't even want him to come to camp, but dropping him in the off season before even seeing what he could do would have been a bad decision. Fans seem to neglect that Kemp couldn't do any strength building in the off season which paired with coming off the injury resulted in his terrible start to the year. See what happens with him in the off season and hope he can still be 80% the player he once was.

No to Price. He had a elbow issue early this year and we don't have the prospect depth.

actually you know what?...send Billingsley to Tampa with Kemp. Billingsley's time here should be ending soon. never became who we thought he could be and Nolasco is a decent #4 or #5

so if they aren't confident in pitching Nolasco tonight, against ONE team that hits and knows him well + while he's on the same staff as the greatest pitcher in the game today, let Ricky go? na.

yes. cut and dry. oh...add Billingsley in there as well if need be. Kemp, Loney, and Billingsley can have a regular Dodger reunion in Tampa.

fair or not, it's time for the Dodgers to get younger/more durable guys out there. Cano doesn't qualify as " younger ", but he's one of the more durable guys in MLB and a pure 3-hole hitter that doesn't strike out 130 times and a good buy so long as they don't go past 150M or 5 yrs. a middle infielder with a bat like that has extreme value. right now, we can't rely on Hanley, Kemp, Ethier, or Puig to stay healthy over 162 games. we MUST give AGon some help as far as having somebody else that can be there day in and day out. and i'm ready to see Joc P. in center as well...he qualifies as younger/more durable

that greatest pitcher is pitching on short rest -- something he's never done before
did i mention that the 18 times he's pitched on extra rest -- which he would be doing in game 5 -- he has an era of
if the dodgers don't believe nolasco can beat freddy fucken garcia then he shouldn't be on the team

i don't. in fact, i was one of the few on the ESPN board who kept telling people to give Kemp a break because he needed to regenerate strength in his shoulder.

my thing is if they can inject new/younger life into the ball club by bringing up Joc P. and playing him everyday + add yet a THIRD ace to the staff...do it. i mean...i'm moving shells around here. our ownerships about to spend a grip anyway. between Kershaw, Hanley, Cano and Price that's a lot of money they'd be spending over the next 2 years...but look at the product there. Kershaw and Price...best 2 left handers in the game. Hanley and Cano...best 2 middle infield bats in the game and legitimate 3-hole type of hitters ( which Kemp is not).

i don't know what the deal is with that...Dodgers need productivity, bro. i mean Carl Crawford's not a home-grown Dodger...did you feel any less excited when he went yard last night? lol i'm happy to have gotten Kershaw out of the McCourt era and he's good enough to hang your hat there. Ned traded for Ethier. Kemp...i'd love it if he eventually got back to everyday form, but Cano is doing it everyday right now. he's a better bet than Kemp and we're tryin to win now. if they're doing a " Yankees West " thing for the next 5 or 6 years, you have to expect that they'll wanna buy immediate productivity that they can count on along with youth/talent for the farm.

You just don't give up on your players after a down year is what I'm saying. In some situations, I can see it, but just giving up on players is not a great way to go about building a team. Just ask the Marlins with Hanley and many other awesome players they've traded for basically nothing.

Cano is a train wreck waiting to happen. Dude is about to turn 32 and you could spend less money and get solid production from Howie Kendrick or Alexander Guerrero. We have a great team already. Don't understand why some of you would want to fuck it up by trading pieces away from it.

Kemp for Price won't even be close to cutting it; and please explain to me how Joc is going to be more "productive" than a couple of two-time all stars in Kemp and Ethier.

We're in the NLDS. Just because we have money now can we not become Yankee fans?
