Yep, struggling against lefties is annoying as hell but at the same time, the team is damn good against righties which means roughly 70% of the time they're fine. That other 30% of the time is annoying but as far as biggest flaws go, it's not one that ruins an entire season.

And in the early going I'll be annoyed by it but cautiously optimistic. Turner, Gutty, Enrique, SVS, Trayce, and seager shouldn't all be awful against lefties. Don't have much hope for Grandal, Joc, Puig and Adrian but the rest should be decent enough against lefties eventually if they just hit like they have before.

We dont have a lefty issue because we have plenty of guys who could be helping in that dept.
The issue we have is that the team has relied on SVS and Kike to be the lefty hitting specialists.
They were atrocious last year and look to be no better this year.
Trayce or Ruf should be instead of SVS.
And Kike probably has a replacement in the wings too.

Yasmani, at the very least, has put up a near .400 OBP against LHP since joining LAD, so I would just assume that at some point he'll be effective enough in that way, but yeah, the rest of those guys are gonna struggle against quality LHP.
If Joc could just do what Yasmani's done against LHP and somehow find his way on base at a high clip, I'll be good with that for this year..baby steps.
Incremental improvements will go a long way there, but if I'm forced to attach worry anywhere it'll be the same place Friedman says worries him the most every year..the bullpen.
Have a lot of options for the pen, just need them to work out.

That game I believe was more disappointing in person than had I watched on TV. Just glad I didn't pay money for those tickets and somehow everyone else kept handing me drinks.
-First off, I can't believe this lefty shit followed us into 2017.
    - I think Forsythe is hurt as suddenly he looks lost at the plate and his swing looks bad. For him to be as locked in as he was, and now to look this bad after getting hit, something is up.
    - Ryu wasn't terrible, yay!
    - The party deck has ruined the Coors experience. I've always loved going to games there, but now the upper deck sits half empty(on good days) and the party deck was an absolute shitshow. Fans buy the cheap seats then go mingle in the PD the whole game. I went and visited some friends there during the game and it was wall to wall people... WITH NO TV'S TO WATCH THE GAME. There is a good couple thousand square feet of cabanas and walkways that were filled with people and no place to see what was going on in the game. And nobody gave a shit. The millennial's that are moving here in droves are going to change the experience.
    - With that said, downtown Denver is still an awesome pre-post game experience. Everything was packed with fun crowds and is a cool scene to take in. If you're ever in the Mile High City, I suggest taking in a game and enjoying the nightlife.

The LH thing isn't a real thing and won't have an effect on the team ultimately ?
    Lol.
I wonder how long it will take them to get the guys who can rake against them into the lineup?
Seems like we are always waiting for something or someone to come up or get signed and save us from what we didn't address whenever...From Clayton, to Joc, to Corey, to Urias, to I guess it's Bellinger now, to whoever. Or whomever...
Hope this time, with Hill and Forsythe included, it's finally the magic...Great as all the others were/are, still waiting...Still hoping....

I'm not saying it's not a real thing that won't have an effect, I'm saying that last year showed it's not something that ends a regular season and that there's enough pieces there that SHOULD be better but time will tell if they indeed hit successfully against lefties like they have in the past

I think mccarthy and Kazmir were failures from the FO, but the first year from anderson was solid for 10$ million and Anderson was dumb to accept the QO and should've declined for a multi year deal. Screwed himself out of a nice contract

Should be better, but so far...Not.
I don't know if Lofo is/ was intended as the answer ( would seem definitely not enough, even if he weren't striking out at a head shaking level), but the news flash is: he ain't enough.
    IMO, anyway.
Hopefully, it's the famous and oft- used small sample size.

I think Logan will be better against lefties then wtv we had last year at 2B against lefties, but he won't be spectacular against them. He can't carry a team offensively IMO. A nice complimentary piece but not an elite option. That'll be up to Turner, Seager, SVS, or Gutierrez. Those guys should be much better against lefties

We are a great team. Are we perfect, no.
At this level a team that excels like we do does not really have weaknesses. What we have is areas that need improvement.
    Is it semantics, ok, yes.
    :D

Logan will become a huge improvement against lefties even though he is just average against them..
Against lefties we are a different team. We rely more on OBP than SLG. Manufacturing runs through getting on base and moving people over.
Already Logan is paying off against lefties by doing his job. When the others start doing as well we will be better.
Logan is hitting .286 and getting on base at.444, good and excellent for a leadoff.
Striking out a lot but thats ok, strikeouts remove the risk of a GIDP which kills the type of ball we want to play vs lefties.
Nobody else from the people who should be hitting lefties is doing their job.
And Justin Turner who is bad vs lefties is having wonderful luck so far this season. Maybe he has improved vs lefties or its just luck that will soon wear off. If Turner can at least be average against lefties then we are in much better shape than i thought.

    2B: Logan = B
SS: Corey = C, and he should improve a little bit more.
    RF: Puig = B
    C: Grandal = B-
    3B: Turner = D (but maybe he improves to a C)
    1B: Adrian = D
    CF: Joc = F (maybe improves to a D)
    LF: SVS/Kike = D

If Turner is a C and Gutierrez who is a B against lefties can hit for Joc then the only issue becomes 1B and LF.
Trayce should be a B player vs lefties in LF. which leaves 1B which belongs to Cody Bellinger in the second half.

    VS Right / Left
    2B: Logan/Logan = B/B
    SS: Corey/Corey = A+/C+
    3B: Turner/Turner = A/C-
    1B: Adrian/Clay = B/B
    C: Grandal = B/B-
    RF: Puig/Puig = C+/B
    CF: Joc/Gutierrez = B+/B
    LF: Toles/Trayce = C+/C+

Plenty of guys there still with some upside to improve.
If Toles is as good as he was last year then hes a B, and if Trayce is as good as he was prior to injury then he is a B too against lefties.
And Verdugo may come and be better than everyone we have in LF.

Except for the SVS piece. And Gutierrez still needs to step up we agree.

Personally as big a fan of Puig's potential as I remain this SOB needs to step the fuck up in a big way to justify the confidence provided by the FO. He's a righty he has NO excuses. If the Dodgers have issues with lefties it's PUIG's personal damn problem to solve.

at least he's been tattooing them recently
