Other than the balk he was fine. In reality, I'd like more innings than that, but he had a short (and rightfully so) leash.
That Bolsinger guy was almost as good at #5 for us, in fact he was a de facto #4. He sometimes made it Passed the fifth inning.
While I loved Bolsinger and I still think he's a valuable member of this organization going forward... 7 of his 16 starts (44%) were 5 innings or less.
That's true, have to wonder how much of that was Donnie thinking he was shit. I think he more than proved himself, enough that we didn't have to chase an average talent like Latos. Though, before the trade if you had given me a choice I would have chosen the latter too.
I think your selling Latos a wee bit short.. Sure ill be first to tell you hs been a disappointment to say the least but his Fip and war suggest and back hes a solid number 3 through out his career .And possibly a number 2 on a shitty team. I love Bolsinger for what hes done for us.I went to his 8in 0 er 18 consecutive outs 1 hitter...but hes crap if his curve aint working and hes basically a 5 inning pitcher with donnie as our manager . Latos>Bolsinger going forward this season
Latos wasn't as bad as usual, but his short starts and mini-innings are exactly won't we don't need for our BP. He's the antithesis of the kind of pitcher do need. Whatever his numbers are, crunched by his supporters to elevate him to some kind of better than what we see (IMO), he has got to give more than 4+ when he's on the bump. He definitely balked , and all his histrionics aside, the replay on TV showed he certainly was on the rubber. True what Lynch wrote, he needs his curve, and he had it last night, it looked. He could have gone longer, but cut his own throat by stupid shit. Nice game by Peraza especially, the kid wants to play, and shows it. Dre with the nice hit for the 2RBIs. I read Donnie's lips in the 8th, when with bases full, Johnson, who could literally fuck up cornflakes, induced the DP..."thank God" he said to Honeycutt. Indeed. Thank God....
Makes a huge difference as shown last night, if Gonzo does just a little hitting, along with CC and some contact made by Ellis. AJ actually got a very key hit and got us rolling there. At home, let Ellis play and let Grandal completely heal. Why put him out there if he's hurting so much...makes no sense. AJ is the better option right now, anyway. September 1, maybe they should bring up Barnes, too. Let Yasmani be 100% right for the deep crunch.
Don't agree at all. Bolsinger has been much better this season and actually and doesn't have all of MLB running all over him.
Love Peraza shortening up with 2 strikes, making contact, using his speed, etc. I hate the "small ball" crap from fans who think they're managers calling in on the radio. But I love seeing someone with a good approach, taking advantage of opportunities on the bases, etc.

Broxton blowing another one for the Dodgers. His ERA has been great since joining the Cards, but his FiP is pretty bad.
Giants lost and we have a glorious opportunity to stick our feet on their throats this weekend. Need to capitalize
